coyotewillie 0
I want to replace my gas piston on my .223. I understand that I have to drill out the indentions on my carrier to remove the old piston. But, how do I install the new piston? Do I have to drill a larger hole through the carrier and piston and rivet it? Or, can I peen the carrier again at 90 degrees to the old peening? I did a search but couldn’t find anything on this. Thanks. Greg By the way, how in the world do I get the option bar out of my post window?? It’s sitting right over where I need to type so I can’t see what I’m typing. I wrote this up in Word and transfered it! Thanks again. Greg Edited March 30, 2010 by coyotewillie
sam3669 0
I found this on you tube. I was working on mine today. I drilled out the indention just to the threads, put the old piston in a vise and spun it out. Now I want to find a tap to clean up the treads. Need to do some research on what size the tap is. Then I will follow the same as the guy in the video.
AlliedArmory 3
I just did mine the other day. It is a lot of work. A vise and drill press sure make it easier. Vise is a must forsure To chase the threads you need a M12x1.25RH tap http://www.dinzagarms.com/misc_parts/usgpk.html
