DudeRN 1
hi, first post because I have a question. I've looked over some of the conversion how-tos here, and watched the Carolina Shooters youtube series on converting the saiga 12, moving the trigger group forward and adding a buttstock. I am all set on 922 issues, but for the saiga 12 it looks like you need a modified bolt hold open lever so that the safety can slide through when you re-assemble it. is this also necessary for the 410 model? and it appears that you may have to grind down the safety a bit to make it fit the new hammer position -- also necessary for the 410? any other differences I should look out for, or is the 410 conversion basically the same as the 12? thanks in advance for any help
jamen 8
The bolt hold open for the 410 lets the safety lever be installed after the BHO is in, unlike the 12 gauge model. So nothing is needed here. You may have to fit the safety to make sure it engages the trigger on any of the guns. Or you may not, it's sort of luck of the draw. The main hassle with the conversion is if you want to replace the hammer with a US made one (such as the Tapco G2) the hammer has to be re-profiled significantly. It has to have a clearance cut made on the left side (looking at it from the shooter's perspective) to accomodate the rail/ejector. As well as getting the hump off the front, and cutting down the right side to accomodate the hold open. It is probably easier to recycle the factory hammer, if possible. DudeRN 1
thanks! I am getting the FCG from carolina shooters, and I believe the hammer is already modified to fit.
