Just thought I'd mention the excellent customer service I got from Tapco recently. A friend of mine is making a custom wood stock for my Saiga 223 and I needed a buttplate pronto. I looked on the internet expecting it not to be a problem finding one. It was. All I could find was a trapdoor model from K-Var. I didn't want a trapdoor but ordered it anyway because it was better than nothing and work couldn't progress without one.

I also sent an e-mail to Tapco at the same time explaining my dilemma. I mentioned that Tapco didn't list one for sale but was wondering if maybe any were available from perhaps a damaged stock. I received a reply from Stacy Riddle, a client relations specialist at Tapco. She informed me that she had removed one from a damaged stock and would be shipping it to me. I offered to pay for the plate and shipping but she informed me there would be no charge for either.

I would just like to give credit where it is due here on the forum. Too often, all we hear are negative comments about some of the vendors here who are merely trying to provide parts and service we need to work on our "toys" at a reasonable profit so as to stay in business. What Stacy did was out of the ordinary and deserves comment. Thanks, Stacy. I really appreciate your help.

Alas, the plate arrived too late to use on my gun (Ralph was in a hurry) but it won't go to waste. He had mentioned in the past that he really liked my Saigas and I would always ask "So, when are you going to get one?" Invariably, the answer was "Probably never." After fitting the handguards, he decided he liked the AKed look of the 223 so much that he had to have one himself. He ordered a 223 from CSS Wednesday. Now I suppose I'll have to buy a few conversion parts for him since he didn't charge anything for the woodwork. So, everything is going in circles, as it should.

I love happy endings, don't you?

Tim

Tapco has always given me top notch customer service!

I think we're very fortunate to have the vendors we do have here. They all seem to do their best to satisfy their customers. I know some here disdain Tapco, calling their products "cheap junk" but I haven't had any problems with Tapco's stuff so far. I'm also willing to bet that if I did have a problem they would try to resolve it.

I do feel what Stacy did was above and beyond the call of duty and really appreciate it. I was going to ask her if she was married but my wife pointed out that would be an irrelevant question since I was. Women can be overly possessive and needlessly jealous at times.

They were good to me when I got a folding stock with a plastic pin (one of the first ones) and the pin broke. I called Tapco on Monday and got a new steel pin on Friday. The service rep was surprised that I had one of those pins and said they discontinued them for that reason a few years earlier.

I've personally never dealt with their customer service, but I think TAPCO's products are pretty nice. They make some stuff other companies don't, or charge too much for. I have a MPA9 mini and I paid $40 for a 2 extra polymer 35 rd sten mags, and they work and look great. Same with my Saiga's T6 stock, that thing's rock solid. You have to give credit where it's due, and TAPCO definitely earned my respect.
