Nabzim 0
OK, so I just received my thread adapter and my k-var compensator in the mail today, and was excited to put them on my rifle. First, I screwed the adapter on my barrel, and it fit perfectly and felt rock-solid. BUT, when I tried screwing the compensator onto the adapter, it went on smooth for about one turn, then just tightened up and and I couldn't turn it anymore! I also tried the other side of the adapter and same thing happened. Any reason for this other than wrong type of threads? According to the websites, they are both 24x1.5mm right-hand threads. Heres the compensator: My link And heres the Adapter: My link Please help, I want to try out my new compensator! Thanks!
stnls1911 55
I'm not sure why it won't work, but I've heard bad stories about thread adapters. Some people have actually sent the thread adapter and muzzle brake downrange. If you do get it to work, be careful.

Thanks, I might just call the place I ordered it from and see if I can get a new one, because I really don't see the reason why it wouldn't go on.. Maybe it's just a bad adapter? Nabzim 0
Ok, so I searched around the forum a bit. Saw that someone else had the same problem with the k-var muzzle brake not fitting his adapter, and he ended up sending it back and getting the krebs one instead which fitted the adapter fine. So now I want to know: Does anyone know if there's an adapter that will for sure work with the k-var muzzle brake? Anybody else have the same muzzle brake that they're using with an adapter? I really would prefer to not have to get a different brake. Thanks.
KC913 324
I have the same muzzle brake. It fits pretty damn snug on my Bulgarian 24mm front sight block. I had to slide something through the muzzle brake for leverage to finish tightening it down. My buddies is the same way.
Nabzim 0
I have the same muzzle brake. It fits pretty damn snug on my Bulgarian 24mm front sight block. I had to slide something through the muzzle brake for leverage to finish tightening it down. My buddies is the same way. Ok, I tried to really force it on there, but it did not budge no matter what. I guess the threads on this break were just cut bad? I tried contacting k-var the other day and told them what's going on, but they still haven't gotten back to me yet. So I will probably end up buying the one from Krebs sooner or later... Isn't that one a more accurate replica of the original anyway? I just read on an ar-15 forum, that a few other people had this same problem with the kvar brakes not even fitting thier arsenal rifles! Somebody should let k-var know that they need new "precision cutting machines" Edited June 5, 2011 by Nabzim
Revolver Ocelot 3
The K-var break fit my surplus AK74 Threaded block perfectly. The krebs is a copy of the older style 74 break. The K-var is more like the extended collar version seen on the century series. here is a good reference and good read overall. http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/variants.html
