Do I Need The Muzzle Brake Retainer Pin?

Recommended Posts

Hey, there. I just bought an FSC47 from Primary Weapons Systems. It has a notch on it for the retaining pin of the AK to slide into to keep it from screwing off accidentally. My Saiga doesn't have a retainer pin, and doesn't even have a hole for it. I am wondering if I will need to install a retainer pin or if it will be fine without it? If I do have to, how would I go about installing that?

Thank you.

Another 5/8" crush washer here, use it for my flash hider.

Muzzle devices should be periodically removed for cleaning purposes.

This is why the AKs muzzle devices are known to fit loosely and have the pin, ease of maintenance.

Red loctite is intended to be permanent, I would not recommend it.

My FSC47 only came with a rubber washer that I did not use.

I picked up the crush washer from Brownell's (when I was ordering other items). They had two different kind so I bought both. One was a little larger than the other. Either would work.

Good luck.

I use locktite all the tiine with my job.and have used it on several brakes.

A good blow dryer or heat gun will help with removing the brake if needed.

Don.t over saturate the threads and it works fine.

Nothing wrong with Loctite being used in conjunction with a crush or peel washer.

But not Red, it is not the right tool for the job, Purple or Blue would be the better tools for the job.

Kind'a like screwdrivers, any flats a flat & phillips a phillips... Right?
