FingerStyleFunk 6
First Off, want to thank the folks who provide good info on these forums. Definitely make this easier. Here's my recent 223 conversion. I went and shot it today, 60 rounds no issues. I was running out of daylight, so I'll be sighting her in tomorrow. Parts; Carolina Shooters Supply was used. I ordered on thanksgiving friday, the packages came on monday. Pretty amazing, from South Carolina to Pacific NW. They get my vote Parts used: Bullet Guide kit for round trunnion 223 Tapco FCG Tapco Stock, PG, Nut, Screw. The stock is garbage imo, I just needed something cheap for now, next time I'd get KVAR. Disconnector Spring Plastic Hole Plugs Axis Pin Retaining Plate<-----Best thing ever. Well worth 8 dollars. Blue Loctite Dremel with cutoff wheel, grinding drum and angled grinding bit. Drill with various cobalt bits. Krylon BBQ paint for the bottom of the receiver. Total cost was 122.00 I bought the rifle from JG sales for 316 dollars shipped, and it cost me about 380 take home, so around 500 dollars converted. One thing I didn't take pictures of was the ground down interdiction tab and the slightly ground down magazine catch so the Circle 10's would work. I've got a Short PKM style flash hider with barrel threading tools coming from CNCwarrior sometime this week or next as well, so that should be fun. Upgrades in the near future; More 5.56 Bulgy Circle 10 mags USPalm Grip E. German Wire side folder Midwest Industries Railed Fore-end Rail Covers Magpul AFG2 Primary Arms Micro Dot
mancat 2,368
Nice job, and from the pics it almost looks like you did it all in one day. Which paint did you use on the bottom?

Which paint did you use on the bottom? Krylon BBQ paint. Found it at wallyworld. I put it under a heat lamp for about 30 min, only did one brief spray.
Relsom 1
Nice job. I ordered one of those Tapco retaining plates from CSS and couldn't get the hole to line up to get the safety lever back in. I wound up using the shepherds crook that came with the Tromix FCG. It was a PITA but worked out ok. Curious, let us know if you have to adjust the front windage. I set mine today. It came from the factory shooting way too far right and visibly, the post was not centered. Edited December 5, 2011 by Relsom
mancat 2,368
Sorry to hear about your sight issues. Mine was dead-on from the factory, sight post dead center. I am replacing it with a threaded 24MM FSB, so hopefully I'll keep it just as well centered.

I managed to function test 60 rounds from prone supported and she was 8 inches or so high and left about 6 inches consistantly at 25 yards with the rear sight set to "1". It was getting dark, so I'll head back on my next days off and get there early to use the sight tool and get it sighted in methodically. I am planning on using the 62g Brown Bear HP's, all seemed to feed just fine with just a slight case dent. It's a private range, and was a pita to find the cases for cleanup, she likes to throw it about 30 feet to the right into the woods. Also, I used the other retaining plate from Carolinas shooters supply. It worked great. Edited December 6, 2011 by FingerStyleFunk
DrThunder88 912
Nice setup! The sight issue is an easy fix, so don't sweat it. I also like that Tapco stock. When I was doing my folding stock project, I found out that the Tapco stock was actually made of thicker plastic than the Bulgarian stock. If the tang had been built a bit better, it could be a very good stock.
