Spartand003 0
Hey, I'm doing the finishing touches on my conversion and I was wondering what method I should use to remove the extended gas block pin that holds the factory hand guard. I was thinking about dremeling it down and then using files to finish it up. Is this a good idea? Thanks in advance.
hutchsaiga 93
Yep very good idea. Dremel it down the clean it up even. Unless you are removing the gas block? But the way you worded it makes it seem that you are using a bolt on retainer.
Spartand003 0
Yup, already have the the bolt on retainer. I just want it to stop catching on my hands and such. I was meaning remove the excess by the way, not the whole pin.
Spartand003 0
So I did it! I would post pics, but I can't here yet... :/ Anyway, I used a cutting wheel with the dremel, and It was super easy. I have a new found love for that wheel. I cut them half way, then cleaved them off with a chisel so it would be tapered down, and then I touched up the paint with some enamel that matches the factory finish.
