pokey 3
I have the older model S-410 and I have some silver bear 3' slugs, I could not get them to work in my 410 using the promag 30 round drum, They would hang up when trying to chamber them, they worked half ass in the 10 round mag. I have not tried the org. 4 round mags yet. Is there anything i can do to correct this problem?? other 3" will work just the silver bear that is causing me problems. I kown my 410 is labaled 3 inch only can i shoot the 2 3/4 in golden bear out of it?
G O B 3,516
The wife has one of the older S-.410's. It does not like any of the newer steel hulls. The problem appears to be the roll on the case mouth is too small. The shells do not lock squarely into the bolt face, and the case mouth catches on the extractor cut in the breech. Due to the rimmed round the guide must be larger than the shell, as the rim must seat in the end of the barrel. So far, I am working on a way to roll the front of the shell a little bit to eliminate this. I would love to see the newer model to see what changes the factory made. If I ever find a work around, i will do a write up.
pokey 3
I was thinking, ( I know you guys could smell wood burning) But Is there some way you could put a slite taper on the case so it wont hit the top of the chamber when chambering, maybe the use of an old rifle die, because that is where my problem lies when trying to chamber a round Edited February 14, 2012 by pokey
G O B 3,516
Exact problem with the wife's. Hers is a '95 the old style with the hollow piston and blind plug that looks like a big screw. I am using fired hulls to troubleshoot. The bolt does not center the round when it strips it out of the mag. Unfortunately, the rim sits high left. This points the hull directly at the extractor cut. That cuts the front of the hull like a chisel. If I hand center the round it will feed every time. The last round will feed every time. Her receiver was spread about an eighth inch, I straightened that and it helped a little. Still jams every 6 or 7 hand cycles. Next I am going to try to roll the case mouth 1/8" Project is on the back burner, I am replacing the bumper on the Comanche for a couple days.
pokey 3
Here is what i tried, I put some silver 3 in. in my 10 round mag. and the last two rounds were fed. 3in. stuck it in the 410 and they fired fine, I am going to try staggering 5 and 5 in the drum with the last 5 federals #5's and see how that works this weekend when it is warmer. I hate the fricken cold. Well that didn't work, Back to the drawing board!!! Edited March 12, 2012 by pokey
G O B 3,516
Still working on the Comanche, doing E-brake cables and found rusted out floorboards. Some projects never seem to end! I need to get some pix up of the S-.410 this may be above my pay grade!
