Selling my Smith and Wesson 4046. For all of you who might be to young to remember this is the semi auto handgun that S&W made prior to their Polymer guns! :)

This 4046 is a DAO, exposed hammer, .40cal, 10 round mag. The mag is ban era and, as stated, holds 10 rounds however, "high cap mags" for this particular model is 11 rounds. So you'll only be missing 1 round. Mags are available from CDNN and other places. McGar also makes them and are very good quality.

These are AWESOME handguns! Completely stainless steel so no rusting really but they do have some weight to em. This isnt a feather light gun. You're looking at about 40oz. Thats in the weight class of a 1911. Dont be afraid though, good holster and belt and you wont even know you have it on. I CC a 5946, same gun, same weight but in 9mm/17 round mag. Belt and holster are the key here. On the plus side it absorbs recoil really well. I have not shot this one but my 9mm feels like a 22. And my 10mm was not that bad at all so I assume this gun will not be anywhere as snappy as a polymer gun.

If you dont want to carry it they make great JUST IN CASE/SHTF/CASHE/STASH guns. Very durable and reliable. They have been used by Police agencies as well. This was the gun that introduced the new .40s&w cartridge "The Model 4006 has been used by many law enforcement agencies as a standard duty sidearm, including by the California Highway Patrol, California State Parks and Rec., and until recently, the Colorado State Patrol. As of September 2009 both the California State Parks and Rec. Department and the Colorado State Patrol have both retired the venerable 4006. Until 2008 the Atlanta Police Department used the 4003 TSW" - 4003 TSW is the one with a rail. and aluminum frame.

There is ONE down side to this gun (ok maybe two if you count the weight) Most, and this one included, came with a mag disconnect safety. The gun wont fire if you drop the mag. This feature has its + and -. especially if you're a cop who's gun just got taken (it happens). It doesnt bother me but if this really really bothers you the feature can be taken out. The plunger and spring are under the rear sight. Drift the sight and remove both. Check out youtube for that.

Why am I selling it? Well like I said I have the 9mm and had the 10mm. Would love to get the 45 but I have nothing in 40. This was my first and only and honestly I dont really need it. Bought it on impulse. If I didnt have any 9's Id be all over this but as it is I have a plethora of 9mm handguns so Im trying just to stay with 9 and 45.

Gun is used but in very good condition, has some wear/holster marks. Night sights but they are not so bright anymore. No box. 1 gun 1 mag. $325 shipped or FTF at a LGS in SE Pa. If your state/county/municipality doesnt allow this firearm then please dont ask.
