Judah 1
I was looking at a Saiga 223 that had the Ser # Neatly Electro Pencilled (Very small dots) on the trunnion and stamped on the rested of the gun? Should'nt it be stamped on the trunnion aswell? Thanks
timy 1,185
The trunion number should be stamped, as far as I know. Never seen one that wasn't leastwise. I'm not sure what you mean by "stamped on the rest of the gun". Do you mean marks other than the serial #?
mancat 2,368
The Saiga should have a full serial number on the front trunnion. The last three digits of the serial are printed also on the bolt carrier and bolt. The rifle's manufacture year also appears under the Izhmash proof stamp on the receiver. The proof may not be at the same place on every Saiga, but it exists on every one. Here's what it looks like:
Brian M1 50
Awesome info Mancat! I never knew the year was stamped on them as well. Good info! Thanks!
mancat 2,368
NP I forgot to mention that the date is also the first two numeric digits of the serial on the trunnion.
