Took my 308-1 to the range today. Had a new scope on it, a Simmons 2 and a half power shotgun scope. This scope has a 5 and a half in eye relief which allows a good cheek weld using a low over the bore mount. Shot some nice round 3/4 inch groups at 50 yards with the Silver Bear 140 grain softpoints. The groups went up to 2 inches at 100 yards. Still good I think. One thing about the Silver Bear is a big flash from a 16 inch barrel. It was late and getting dark. The scope filled up with flash for a second and a huge fireball came out. I also had a few handloads with Reloader 15 and these had no flash at all. I heard that the military is using R15 for its sniper loads. Probably dont need a flash supressor. Has anyone killed any game with the SB 140 SP? Whats your result? Thanks.
