G O B 3,516
I picked up a new (to me) Nagant at the gun show today, so of course I brought her home and tore it down and calened it up. '41 Ishvezh and sweet! While I was at it I decided to do a PM on some of my other 'friends'. Hoppe's #9 kind of does that to me, makes me want to keep going when I have it out. Did the bolt on the '38 nagant carbine. OK. Did the bolt on the Yugo SKS and @$#&^$%# the firing pin was not right! It is triangular and will go in 3 ways. Only 1 is correct-the side with the 'nub' must go towards the retainer pin. That was not how it was assembled. Luckily I have only run maybe 200-300 rounds through it that way! On to the venerable 03-03. Easiest bolt ever made to field strip. So why the f$%k won't you release the spring? Oh s^*t! Why won't you come off mr. spring retainer? Oh the firing pin is broken! That should have come apart and screwed up! Where is that spare firing pin and retainer and spring that I bought 30 years ago?? Damn I found it! Everything else looks ok! MORAL- Keep some spares! Also take 'em out and tear 'em down for a good cleaning and inspection now and again!! If nothing else, it will give you a good excuse to sniff Hoppe's #9!
