kresk 10,063
I've seen several folks referring to "opening up the gas ports" or opening them fully. What is wrong with the S-12 out of the box? Is this just a fine tune up type thing? What do you need to do exactly to accomplish this? Advice appreciated.
IndyArms 10,186
Usually this is only done when SHORTENING A barrel... With less barrel you have less time for gas to build up, therefore you need more hole to get more gas into the system to cycle it. Thats the simple way to say it... Normally a S12 will run just fine without needing anything done to the gas ports. If you plan to shorten the barrel, then it may be something you will want to look into at that point in time. It will require removal of the gas block for ease of drilling the holes larger.
