zx9rt1 0
Is the O.D. of the gas tube the same as WASR once you remove the stock cover thats on the Saiga tube? The reason I'm asking is I want to install a quad rail. Or do I have to go with a AK tube? Thanks. Michael
bshoop13 0
Once you cut off the heat sheild on the oem saiga tube the diameter should be the same but you might want to use a gas tube that has the retainers on it. I tried putting a utg quad rail system on my .223 and it didnt seem to fit at all. Someone correct me if im wrong but I think you need to get one made for oversized barrel for it to fit. I had a regular one and had to cut and gring the hell out of mine to get it to fit and even after that it was still a bit tight.

Trying not to waste my time cutting off the shield if I'm going to have to replace the tube with one that has the retainer. Michael
bshoop13 0
I took it off Because i could not tighten it down all the way, if i did it seemed to put a bend in the tube and the piston would start rubbing hard on the tube. That may not happen though if you get one made for an oversized barrel but i cant say for sure becuase i never bought another one.
zx9rt1 0
Well I cut off the heat shield and the UTG quad mount went right on. Fits real sug and is level. Did not notice any binding with the piston. Seems pretty smooth. Hopefuly she will do just fine when I take her to the range. Will report back after sunday.
