  1. Folks Devin is an ARTIST!! I just got the HG for my converted 308 and it is off the hook! Great job Devin, gracias mi amigo! Otto
  2. Thanks for the reference! I found a local gunsmith that is going to adapt a LimbSaver recoil pad to my stock (my KVar is similar to the AK 74 stock, but in composite). In addition he's modifying an AK muzzle brake and is going to weld it onto my 16.5" barrel! I am just one happy cowboy!! Otto
  3. I thought someone might have mentioned Nevada! Housing is gettin' cheaper every day!! Fantastic hunting in the north, the nation's largest public shooting range being built near Las Vegas! NFA always welcome!! (yes, I know that summers can be brutal that's why Air Conditioning was invented!!) Otto
  4. I want to do this to my .308!! How hard is it to remove the HG? I'm not very mechanically inclined and I'd hate to screw up anything. Otto
  5. Howdy! I have an extra SAW pistol grip and was wondering if it would be possible to convert it so that I could mount it to a forearm picatinny rail? I kind of like the idea of a SAW pistol grip and a SAW forearm grip. Both would have the same feel, etc. It looks like it could be do-able if you could find some sort of rail clamp that could be mounted in the opening at the top of the grip. Any thoughts?? Otto
  6. I've had my C&R for a couple of years. It's more than paid for itself by eliminating the NICS check on 3 CZ's that I bought! Do it and you'll be one happy cowboy! Otto
  7. I have a Saiga .308 conversion with a K-Var stock. I need a recoil pad for it. The dimensions are 3.75" long by 1.25" at the widest point. Either slip on or screw on would be fine. If it adds an inch or two, so much the better. Thanks for any help! Otto
  8. Shaneman, you are braver than I! But I can see how this works very well. What you've done is exactly what I'm wishing to do, a decent recoil pad on my K-var and a muzzle brake. (this, too is a challenge with the 16.5' barrel). Since I have more $ than talent hopefully I can find someone here in Las Vegas to do the work. Otto
  9. Bender, a quick question if I may? My Saiga looks virtually identical to your bottom one. Is there any way to install a recoil pad similar to the one on your wood stocked rifle to the polymer butt stock? I really want the additional length and the protection would be a good thing too!! Thanks! Otto
  10. I'm really trying to decrease muzzle rise and recoil. I saw a bunch of AK type compensators at the gunshow here today, but was totally clueless about what one would work, and if they even would work with my Saiga. I kind of assume that they should as the AK chambering in 7.62 x 39 should have the same diameter as my Saiga in 7.62 x 51. My real concern is losing or compromising my front sight. The darn barrel is so short @ 16.5" that there just isn't that much of it past the forearm. Has anyone done this and if so do you have a picture? Otto
  11. Thanks all! This helps a bunch. The brake I've been looking at IS the Shark by Tromix. They're supposed to be shipped in a couple of weeks and Mississippi Auto Arms is now taking reservations for it. MSRP is something like $85 Otto
  12. Howdy! I've got my .308 Saiga coming on Thursday and I want to attach a muzzle brake. I've been told that the one I want to stick on will require that the barrel be threaded. Is this a big deal? Can any gunsmith do it? How much threading must be done to attach the brake? Any idea what threading the barrel might cost? Thanks for any help.
