  1. +1 As long as he still would prefer that it happens then he's not the enemy. There are some people that would rather keep the laws so that they can be "special", though.

I guess I can't blame people for trying to protect their jobs. How many companies, gunsmiths, manufacturers, and other people would be unemployed quickly if 922r went away. I personally don't like 922r but a lot of Americans have jobs because of it. Some of these companies have been very innovative in the market too. Many of these products would have never seen the light of day without funds to R&D it.

Americans spending time and money manufacturing parts that other countries already make better and more cheaply is a total waste. All the money and time they spend duplicating triggers etc they could spend making brand new, creative parts. All the money gun owners spend replacing parts on their guns to comply with an insane law could be spent... buying NEW GUNS.

Anyway, great job for the NRA!!!!

  2. There's enough verbiage in the study to make Saiga a target for they explicitly exclude practical gun competition from being considered a sporting activity and limit 'sporting' definition to only hunting, skeet and trap. Additionally the study states that magazine fed shotguns are not well suited for the traditional sporting purpose. Saigas as imported do not have pistol grip so that line doesn't apply. The study addresses very narrow sporting definition, marketing terms ('combat','assault' etc) and if a shotgun is based on a platform originally developed for military use.

The stupid study specifically said that magazine fed shotguns were just as sporting as tube fed shotguns, assuming the magazine was small. Go back and re-read the study.

  3. 50 caliber rifles like the Barrett CAN'T be classified as destructive devices, since a DD is defined as a weapon with a bore diameter of OVER .5 inch without a sporting purpose. Not .5 inches.

Any 12 gauge could be classified as one but with the Saiga IMO it is very unlikely as there are so many floating around trying to get them all registered with an amnesty would be a nightmare. Do you think they want to process 10,000s of amnesty forms?!?! These guns are way more popular than the two other shotgun DDs.

  4. One member did post pics of a gun that had the pins holding the barrel in break or fall out- the barrel shifted forwards in the reciever.

Someone said it was a "safety feature" to allow the gun to fail in way that would not hurt you if subjected to a dangerous load.
