  1. Am I correct this weighs more than a CETME? I know this is a Saiga forum, but what are the relative advantages over a $500 CETME that doesn't need to be converted?
  2. Just a price check to figure what I should be expecting. I'm seeing anywhere from $450 - $600 for a 16" RAA poly furniture stock model. Does this seem right?
  3. Probably have been asked before, but which do you prefer?
  4. I'm on the hunt for an S308, either through classicarms or at the Fay gun show next weekend. I'm going to be swapping out the FCG from my Arsenal sgl31 with a G2 FCG. Question is: has anyone used the Arsenal 2 stager with their 308, and if so, how did they like it? Heard that if you polish the mating area between the hammer and trigger hook it will be smoother. I like the idea of a 2 stager but more on a rifle where I'd not do so many quick follow up shots. Anyway, should I shitcan the Arsenal FCG or is it GTG in a S308?
  5. Not sure if it has the same hole in the bottom of the receiver that the Saigas do. I use a simple flathead screwdriver as a lever braced against the hole to pop the stock right out. No, it doesn't have that extra hole as IZ-132's do. K-Var installs these stocks very securely, (with a press, I think). To remove it, first take out the mounting hardware, (screws both inside and outside the receiver), then get a good rubber/polymer mallet and whack on it about halfway down the top of the stock, (where it dips down slightly and then back up). That surface should allow you to hit the stock
  6. Um...the biotch is stuck on there like flies on ****. Any ideas on how people get the dern thing off? I tried a piece of wood through the magwell and hammering the wood (while stock was clamped to vice)
  7. I'm considering a 308 purchase and was wondering what kind of stock I should get. I'm going to convert by myself as I've done a S-12 and a x39 as well. I thought about this stock from centerfire: Saiga skeleton stock Anyone use something like this for a 16" barrel? How'd you like it?
  8. HAHA thats funny, Krebs just the other day told me they dont have one that will fit the 308. One question...how do you allow for a muzzle brake if you cut/thread the barrel? (legally SBR'ing it of course)? Is there a DIY for a muzzle brake detent pin?
  9. I've already converted a Saiga-12 and taking my 7.62 all the way to ak-103 mode (PITA to remove fsb/gb). I was wondering how much it normally costs for a basic conversion of a 308. I already have a folding triangle stock with built in latch (extended length k-var version). BTW, is this a bad stock to use for this rifle? What is the recoil like of the 16" barrel vs say my SA58 FAL? Thanks!
  10. Cool...thanks guy. Keeping the FAL. I figure the Saiga prices will keep getting better, whereas the DSA prices don't seem to be declining all that much.
  11. Due to some budget constraints, I was thinking about dumping the SA58 I have (heavy SOB) in favor of a Saiga 308 deal with someone local. For the price of what I can sell my FAL at, I can get the Saiga, 2 25rd mags, side scope rail and two scopes (one for my 7.62) -- plus about $300 in pocket change for ammo and another mag or two. Does this sound like a plan? I use iron sights on my FAL now and would hate to have to drop another $200 for a mount + scope on top of the $900 I paid to get her.
  12. Stranger things have happened, but IMO there is no way on God's green earth an Arsenal would come without a bullet guide. It's just cost cutting by using a cheaper muzzle brake and stock mag. Saves about 40-50 bucks perhaps? I'm curious as to whether it's an actual 74 brake with the proper holing.
  13. Cool. Thanks for the info. What would be the best way to cut them off? If I were to use a cutting wheel on my rotary tool, what would be the best place to start? Bottom of block? Side? Thanks!
  14. Has anyone gone through a whole conversion yet? You know, replacing the front sight block, gas block, flat trunnion bullet guide, etc? I saw that apex gun parts had ak74 gas blocks (hard to find a year ago) and thought of doing this myself, plus I noticed the existence of DIMPLES! How hard is it to press off/press on the front sight and gas blocks? Any videos of this?
  15. Doesn't that just make 5 parts? I thought that 6 US parts is necessary when you have a removable muzzle brake??? The choke on this Saiga pictured is original Russian, no?
  16. The screwhole for my SAW grip is too long + the screw that I'm supposed to use (the one that came with the Tromix DIY guard) is too short. I figured there's only one type of Tapco SAW grip. Am I wrong?
  17. Just wondering if anyone has either tried and/or succeeded in installing this gas block? I have a hard time finding a bulgarian or e. german 90deg gas block. It has the bonus of having a collar for bipods
