  1. I suggest deleting the BHO: mine is in the way, and annoys the crap out of me. It is FAR easier during the conversion to delete it, and you will not have the annoyance of a metal tab getting in the way of your trigger finger. Now, if this were to be a combat weapon, the BHO would NEVER be removed or taken off... but this is NOT going to be a combat weapon, is NOT my primary SHTF gun, and is not likely ever going to see a combat situation... with that said, I am leaving mine as it is, just in case!
  2. cabinarms.com does not exist.... they must have been selling them WAY too cheap.
  3. Nothing special: basic K-var conversion kit including Nato Stock and standard pistol grip, trigger, and some custom ventilation of the handguard done by a friend with a lathe. Still not fired yet, but 100% compliant and ready to hit the range!
  4. Did you have to get one of the "S" shaped retainer plate thingies when you used the $83 KVAR set? I don't see one in the kit. The kit was 100% complete, except for some allen-head bolts used to retain the pistol grip, and I had to grab a few e-clips for the trigger assembly. I think that's what you are calling the s-shaped retainers, but e-clips are cheap and work just fine. Nothing but an easy trip to a hardware store.
  5. That sounds like a primo idea. I sort of wish I had removed it completely, as I am going to have to take it out and grind the crap out of it to keep it out of the trigger housing... it bugs me big time in the new furniture, and I hardly noticed it when it was in rifle form. It seems to be twice the size now, and it HAS to be substantially reduced in size, if not pulled completely. Good luck with yours!
  6. DOn't know why I didn't notice it before the conversion... what's the general concensus on what to do with it? I know I have "Butcher's Hands", but it bugs me BIG TIME to have to deal with that nub when engaging the trigger. Better to file it way down, or just pull it out the assembly? It seems to be a pretty bad design to have it drop that far down to the trigger guard to begin with... Am I the only one who finds this annoying???? Thanks:
  7. What the &*%^#* did I do to mess up the trigger? There is a silver piece of metal hanging down by the trigger guard, and how do I make it go away? My trigger finger hits it when I engage the trigger, and I'm not sure what I did wrong!
  8. I know it isn't all that exciting to you all that have had yours done for a while, but here is my Saiga, and what was done: Base Saiga .223: 349.00 K-var conversion grip, stock and trigger: 84.00 Surefire Hi-Cap magazines 4@ 25.00 100.00 Having a Saiga conversion that is 922r compliant and fun to shoot: priceless! This was a basic conversion, with a single toggle trigger from K-var. I also ported both sides of the handguard, between the metal guides on the inside front/rear, and matched both sides using a turret lathe and carbide bit

  11. I vote for "bullet-holder-thingy". Concise. Direct. And just exactly what it should have been called all along, but for all the Professorial diatribes and intellectual ne'er do wells putting forth their opinions and attitudes... and what happened? We ended up with a plethora of verbage, all too confusing, with terms like: Magazine, Mags, Clips, Feeders, Stipper Clips, Bang-Boxes, Bullet condoms, ammo-slides, boom-boom cannisters, Cartridge Cans, and of course Hole-Maker Holders. Bullet-holder-thingy is perfect, and is the term of choice for this poster from this point forward!
  12. You spent at least 20 minutes composing a diatribe that only reinforced my original position of your being the south end of a north-bound horse. Congratulations on time well-spent. And to the "points" and positions you made in your most recent post: .....yawn.
  13. I didn't think the 20" barrel lenght would "look right" in an AK form, but I have seen some that look pretty freakin good! I wanted to see if someone could post a pic of the 16" and the 20" in a side by side photo so some of us newbies can see how they look in AK furniture... that extra 4 inches doesn't seem like much, but when it comes to the foregrip selection, it can look a little awkward with that extra 4 inches just hanging off the end of the rifle if not done right. I'd love to see a few 20" with the Tapco Galil-style foregrips, and with the stock Saiga foregrips, too! Any taker
  14. Someone needs to get a hobby. I had no idea Citizen Soldier was the self-appointed grammar police for this board. Frankly, since everyone who read my post knows what I am talking about in reference to the term Clip as it pertains to the Saiga, which everyone here knows does not use stripper clips, your comments are at best rude and un-called for, and at worst: arrogant and flagrantly obnoxious. Most shooters will use the terms clip and magazine as commonly interchanged terms. Some of us have older firearms that indeed do use stripper clips, and some of use magazines, but with more
