  1. Working on one that will be drum compatible without modding the drum nor mags, for my bullpup. Also a pump style charging system that would make the LRBHO unnecessary.

Go for the magwell but get/build one that covers what you use. Now and in the future.

  2. Watched a half hour bit on the making of it today on HBO(?). Lutrell and other former SEALS were on set for both training and much of the filming. It looks worth while, therefore I'll wait for the dvd and add it to the collection.

Unfortunately, I've met a disturbing number of Mil/LE that don't think the average Joe should have access to "weapons of war". They forget that it was the average Joe that stepped up to defend our newly formed republic. But elitism knows no bounds.

  3. Nice, and welcome to RPK'n.

I'm guessing it's not the chromed barrel(but could be wrong). There for a bit, Yugos were almost as popular as the Romys. But haven't seen as many around lately. Are both drums top loaders?

  4. In Ohio it is legal to CC while hunting and while technically you may be legal, any LE that stops you may take issue which could ruin your hunt at the least. It's that "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should" kinda thing. The quickest way to ruin CC while hunting for everyone is getting stopped going overboard with it. Esp given that a rifle cartridge is more "reach out and drop something"(ie hunting?) as opposed to a heavy pistol cartridge that is more an "up close threat stopper". But as for stopping power, use SP or HP ammo. I used to hunt bear with a 30-30 and SPs. It will work to hunt, but in a charge situation, I'd rather have a harder hitting round.

But perhaps above all else, practicality comes to mind. Climbing in and out of a tree stand/blind, stalking around a mountain side, through thick brush, around a secluded lake in chest waders and then trying to carry that big buck, several ducks, a bag full of quail or a half dozen coyote hides out, that few extra pounds and bulk may prove problematic if not just tiresome.

I've hunted AZ OCing a .380 or .357mag on my hip during bow season and no one said a word. Now I'm in Ohio I CC my EDC .45 with an extra 10rnd mag. With the DTR ammo it's a light weight kit that I'm completely used to.

BTW, I've wanted to build a bullpupped pistol and CC like you suggest, but again it's not really practical and could be construed as "looking for trouble". And while Ohio is more friendly now then when I move here, I really would rather not be a test case nor give fuel to the anti-gunners insanity fire.

  5. I've used a cheap BudK bayonet/bowie knife thing and an old CETME bayonet. The rings on both just fit over the threaded muzzle and locked on with the muzzle break. I never did have lug. But now with the bullpup I've just gone with an aggressive break as a standard bayonet won't work. Considering modding the CETME to fit the p-rail.

  6. Nice set up. I've recently begun running a Condor chest rig with 2 modified double mag, flapped pouches(the triple pouches). A 12rnd shell pouch for specialty rounds and a dump pouch to catch empty mags. I'm set up to run 108rnds in mags and drum plus the 12.

I can also run my RPK with 3 steel mags per pouch for upwards of 6-700 rounds.

    Here's a pic with the S12 loadout.

  7. RIP old soldier. It is a rest well deserved.

Actually, the weapon was designed to be used against our mutual(as the Soviets were our allies at the time) enemy, the Nazis. We would have done better to emulate it sooner than just recently. More of our troops may have survived against the AK, if that(survival/mission accomplishment) had been given more consideration than lining pockets and redesigning the wheel.
