  1. Thank you sir. Just wanted to be sure with adding rem chokes. I didn't know if the interior threading vs exterior would mess with gas system at all. Much appreciated.
  2. cutting a 22.5" to 18.5" and having it tapped for rem chokes. Currently it has 3 at .073, do I need do add a 4th or widen the 2 top ports? I have an old barrel that I made a jig with 4 .073 ports, drilling won't be too hard....just want to be safe oh yeah I do have a gas fixer plug, that should help. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  3. Damn it!!! Before I adjusted my customers paddle, I did the paddle work to both my saigas. I won't do anything for a customer unless I've done it to one of my own guns first. And the mags seem to fit better after I did this, My fault, I took Mike Sr's word F^&K!! without question, MD20 works out of the box. Wraithmaker, be prepared to go a few rounds with Mike Sr. at Alliance, I've screamed at him a few times over the phone. are you kidding me? it works in eight or nine out of ten Saigas eh??? I've put this thirty rounder in more than 15 saiga 12's, without paddle modification it
  4. to make the wraithmaker work right, you have to adjust your magazine release/paddle. Grind off a small portion of the bottom rear rounded angle, reinstall so it has more of an angle towards the barrel (/). This also eliminates the "custom" fitting you have to do to the MD20. In fact after doing this all my mags fit better. Just took Mike Sr. from AA 2 years to tell me how to fix the problem for a customer of mine. He wanted me to send it in for $160, Took me 10 mins to fix....
  5. Slides very well presently , no wobble, little resistance but couple drops of STP will help that and some slugs. we'll see after a lil blasting and paint.
  6. There's really no comparison between the two firearms. both are 12g semi auto's imported for hunting birds....(or man as Jesse Ventura would say) Who cares what feeds the beast. I know my s12's don't shoot 12 rds in 1.5 secs, but I' sure some of these race gun types have been modified to cycle faster than normal. A quick word on the sbs....I milled a new charging handle on to the left side of my carrier. (ground off an old charging handle from an extra AK47 bolt carrier) Welded it. and holy sh$t!! After milling the weld down little by little, it eliminated the wobbliness left an
  7. Every chance I get!!! Lived on the lake all my life. Started footin at 10. My cousins barefoot on a show team in WI called Plumskiters. They started at 7. Every year we as a family have a figure 8 footin tourney. Lots of bruises. No boom for me...strictly deep water starts w 100 ft rope.
  8. looks good saigatech. Thanks for the info. Good guys at Ahlman's, they typically work on more "traditional"(they are the warranty provider for many) mfg's winchester, mossberg, remington.....they really don't know what to say when I bring in AK47 projects. They soldered my gas ports closed, not a terrible job, but not great either(haven't applied yet for SBS, building it first). I can't complain, Mike Ahlman and other smiths there have been very forthcoming with tuning info and they don't over charge $ for the tig welding as I do my own grinding/polishing. I read that Winchester
  9. In the process of SBSing a saiga12 and have 2 quick questions. Anyone ever turn down the barrel with receiver attached? Anyone ever square their receiver to the carrier by adding material*(* welding thin shims) on the sides of the receiver above the rails? Gunsmith at Ahlmans said they do that to 1911's for competition and that is how he would approach it. he also asked me if I had a life after looking at my project!!! then told me to go out and get a Benelli...My neighbor and I(heavy on the neighbor) are doing the gas tube/block and piston turning and it is going very well thanks to al
  10. Thanks for the write up. Unbelievably well done. if this post described a fiero conversion I would be driving a ferrari right now. At -10 as it is in MN as I write this, it would suck..... my saiga shoots at these temps.! my neighbors think I'm nuts.
  11. probably from charging. you pull out and to the right every time you pull the bolt back manually. My 2 cents.
  12. Bounce12 for responding to my request for help. Ben @ Cadiz for his generosity and support in regards to product testing. To all other Saiga 12 Forum members, who's posts have been perused countless times, Keep shooting AND sharing the knowledge. John Waterville, MN
