  1. Thanks for checking it out, AZG. I suppose I could look for an IZ-139 and buy someone's wood set later; then again, I haven't been able to find it in stock anywhere either
  2. Thanks for looking; I'm not trying to be a smartass, but "Auction Closed: February 25, 2010 10:20:26 PDT". Google was the first place I looked and I couldn't find squat. Thanks though.
  3. Anyone know of a place that has these puppies in stock?
  4. a pimple. Thanks for the help, just wanted to be sure.
  5. I'm holding off on converting for the meantime and I would like to know if using foreign made 5 round mags in a totally stock, unconverted S12 constitutes any kind of 922R violation. As I understand it, I'm not replacing any "sporting" features, nor am I introducing domestic parts--so I should be in the clear, but I'd like advice from the experts if possible. As a thanks for your help...
  6. Well I've decided it's time to venture into the deep water and convert my S12. Here's the list of components I've put together, which according to what I've researched here, should both complete the conversion and be compliant with 922R. Any advice/comments from those who have already gone through the process are greatly appreciated. 1) Tromix Saiga Fire Control Group [2 922R parts] 2) RAM Saiga 12 D-I-Y Bolt On Trigger Guard 3) Tapco AK SAW Pistol Grip (DE) 4) Tapco AK Original Style Buttstock (DE) [1 922R part] 5) SGM-Tactical Surefire Saiga 12ga 8 Rd Mag [3 922R parts] 6) Tapc
  7. The FCG was a slight pain to reassemble, but only took about 20% of the total time of my conversion job. Everything took me a bit longer than I expected, but no single part kicked my ass. I'd say go for it. Good vids at CSS (Carolina supply) and some other places you can find. Trust me, you'll figure it out. Definitely not brain surgery. Oh, I did use the "dental floss trick." You can look that up on youtube too...(it helped) Decided I'm going to go for it as soon as CSS has the Tromix FCG back in stock
  8. I've been debating over attempting a conversion for a long time. I know I can drill and punch the rivets but frankly I'm not sure I could reassemble the FCG.
  9. Does anyone know where a Tromix DIY trigger guard is presently in stock?
  10. Thanks for the info! The HG with the single rail that Cobra makes is exactly what I'm looking for, I'll definitely be ordering one of them.
  11. Well I just picked up a 19" threaded barrel Saiga 12 and I'm already loving it. I really would like to convert it so I could put on some nice AK wood furniture, however, I don't know if I'll have all the tools necessary and a adequate workspace. I don't own a vice or c-clamps, but do have a power drill, dremel, hammer, and punches already. Does anybody have experience converting their S12 on a makeshift workbench (student desk in my case)? I'm no expert, but think that I can pull it off with a good step by step picture guide, many of which I've found on these great forums. I would be open
