  1. Hey!, that looks exactly like mine except a Tromix handle. Pauly does a great job and although other vendors offer the same services, I have not seen their work have as many rave reviews and pictures put up of work. They probably have the same reliability improvements but Pauly's is just great artwork in addition to functional.

  2. In order to please the haters of the specialty weapons that are R&D'd on the show, can we get a full hour of normal business at Red Jacket?

May I suggest one third devoted to a stationary camera above the main production line of the ordinary weapons, one third of Steph answering phone calls/doing payroll, and one third of Will chewing ass because someone did something stupid.

This sounds so interesting. I bet the producers love it for the ratings it produces.

And I got some flying pigs to sell also, PM me for details.

  3. My wife using the VCH was the determining factor in choosing that option. She could never work the bolt with the factory setup. It is now no problem for her. I must say that Glassbolt helped the smoothness of the action but it wasn't that bad beforehand.

  4. Just started watching the newest episode. Being a machinist, I don't understand the lack of the depth micrometer in the shop. Any gunsmith should have outside/inside mics up to at least 3 inches and a set of depth mics to 6 inches or so.

Make those boys get some tools!

  5. I've recently had two friends of mine arrested and jailed for warrants issued on already paid traffic tickets. This was several months after the tickets were paid on time and all court costs taken care of. After spending a day in jail then going before a judge to be told "sorry about that, our mistake, now be on your way". Although the city does give them $20 for their troubles.

Yeah, $20 for a day spent in jail after being arrested for something that was taken care of when it was suppose to but somehow the "system" flagged it as unpaid.

Also our counties publish a "Hard Times" publication that shows mugshots of the last two weeks arrests and charges. So my friends images are in the newest one out this week with bench warrant arrest under their names.

Of course they aren't pursuing legal action because it isn't worth it. They already received $20 to keep their mouths shut.

  6. Will, are you really as hard on the guys as my wife thinks you are? I tell her the show is probably cut that way for more of an edge. She's cutting me off from buying a 7.62 rifle from you....little help?????

    Great show either way!

  7. Spring 2003

Drove onto a bridge over a river at night straight into an EF-2 tornado in my hometown. At the time I thought it was just a normal thunderstorm until half way across quarter mile bridge the lights on both sides went out. Tree branches flying sideways in the middle of a river is not normal. After making it across, I had to pull over and catch my breath. I truely thought I was going to get picked up and thrown into the water 200 feet below. Ever since that night I have high anxiety when any kind of thunderstorms are about.

I live in northern Alabama and April 27th this year was not a good day for me.

  8. Bridis, we machinists are just a different kind of people! How many people do you know who could sit all day watching a machine turn a bore big enough for you to crawl thru without ever making any adjustments and enjoy it?

  9. Hi guys, I am looking for ideas on how to attach a sling mount onto my ace stock. The stock itself does not come with a sling mount or any way short of drilling and tapping. Just wanted to see if any of you have done this and maybe would be willing to post up some pics.

    Thanks

  10. Not too hard to machine one of those. Wish I still worked in the machineshop and had a lathe/mill to use. Looks like a good reason to pay the local community college for time in their shop. Thanks for the link with pics.

  11. Let me ask both of you then....on the bolt and carrier, at the most critical point of contact with the other, which one of you has the lower Ra surface roughness reading??

That would settle this arguement if both of you are concerned with the working functions of polishing. Being a machinist myself, I am constantly matching surface roughness with functionality of the work.

Since both of you do the polish to improve friction, no matter how you get there, surface roughness and possibly even a peak count are the only way to distinguish the better of the two.

  12. I have the Ace stock without the folding mech. I used the internal receiver block. Have to grind off the tang for that one. Not sure about the setup you have there but now I'm wondering if I should've gone that route. Hate that my tang is gone reducing my choices for the future.

That trigger guard will have to go bye bye in order for it to fit also.
