  1. Was the bullet guide on the Saigas only removed to be a Crippled AK and not to easily take AK mags? Is the reliability any better or worse from a Saiga mag to a converted AK mag in the same Saiga? I probably know the answer (since REAL AKs are just flat-out reliable), but I thought I would ask. BTW, thank Juggernaut for posting the thorough reply. I have 2 unconverted Saiga 7.62s, now I know what to look forward to.
  2. They're imported like this: They have 0 US parts in this configuration and are only able to utilize their single stack mags. So long as it's incapable of accepting a milsurp mag, it needs no US parts at all. It looks like this. Century has modified it since it was imported, but left the 10 round stinker magwell in place. So long as you don't 'waller it out', you don't need any more US parts than what you have. If you do open it up, you'll need another US part in the rifle, if it has a US made FCG and pistol grip already. I still need to check the Piston to see if it

  4. It'll only be "wallered out" if you ham-hand it. If it's got a muzzle device, you'll actually need 6 US parts to bring the foreign parts down to 10 or less. You're thinking of a factory saiga (which has 14 countable parts). It's kinda weird you'd have a single-stack WASR with a pistol grip and US trigger (I'll bet you've got the whole US made FCG in there). Sorry I meant "wallered out" as a term for hand grinding it out using a Dremel, with no intent of screwing it up. The Single stack WASR10 has a welded on nut instead of a muzzle device. So "IF" the WASR10 has a US made
  5. Got a Wasr-10 single stack. It has a US pistol Grip & US on the side of trigger. (I believe the whole Trigger group is US, but need to check) It came in the original 10 single stack configuration. If I convert the magazine well to take doublestack magazines, will I still be compliant per 922? Is it a better deal to do a bullet guide conversion to a Saiga 7.62 or a "wallered out WASR-10"? Costs I have seen plus what I understand is needed to make them legal. Saiga 7.62 costs $349. <-- need bullet guide and handguard to use USA mags, plus 3 more parts if using Foreign mags
  6. Thanks for the tip. Is a piston a hard to replace? What is easier to modify gun for AK mags or AK mags to fit Saiga? What is legal to modify gun for AK mags or AK mags to fit Saiga?
  7. Y'all teases with your converted pics!!! So how hard is a Piston to replace? Also what USA built (w/ 3 US parts) 20+ round magazines do y'all recommend?
  8. Got a 7.62x39 Saiga, and I don't mind the sporter stock ... so far. From what I understand a Sporter Saiga rifle has 14 foreign parts. I am looking for the simplest and/or cheapest way to make it legal. I would prefer external parts, but I know the piston is cheapest. How hard is the piston to swap out? I currently have 3 surefire 30 rd plastic mags and the Tapco Saiga/Galil front hand guard. For me to legally use 30 round Surefire plastic magazines I need to do what for 922r compliance? 3 Parts in a Surefire USA Magazine. 1 Part from a USA built front hand guard. 14-
