  1. Any one used 308 from these guys yet? They have the 308 ball, match, and A-Max in brass reloadable so wondered about the performance in the Saiga.

Do a google user review of their site. They will not get my business again. Great prices though. I am referring to service and attitude, not the actual product. I purchased 5 boxes of the 150 grn .308, but have not shot it yet.

  2. Have it reserved. Played MOH...and thought the campaign was great...just toooooooo damn short! Online play was so so, but I played COD II for a long time so hard to beat it. I am in Halo Reach right now....holy crap this is hard. Always set it on the hardest level...especially at these prices...want them to last as long as possible. Didn't by MOH though...borrowed it from a friend thank goodness.

  3. Mad Dog? Back in the day here in Dixie Boones Farm was the ticket! :super: A bottle of Strawberry Hill or Apple and you were good to go.

Since the general consensus is this Loco stuff is shite, I think I'll leave it to the college kids and thug wannabes....

HAHA boones farm. Man back in the day you could get a case for next to nothin. Think it was about a buck a bottle. :lolol: Cheap buzz and all the chics like it.

Me and my buddies us to drink boones, cold duck and Miester Brau, as it was all we could afford when were were PFC's and Lance Coolies.....Oh but God, what a hang over! :ded:

  4. I unfortunately have had 2 in a row bad dealings with them. That was enough for me. Not so much the price, but the attitude, which is a show stopper for me each and every time. Hopefully, the need to order from them will not occur again. That is a SWEET folder and makes me drool.... but, way out of my ball park....however, I could see many of them being sold. Regardless good luck with them and I will continue to drool....:)

  5. Where did you get that wood furniture for the PTR-91? They both look nice.

I purchased the set from Roberts RTG. Don't think I can put the entire address. If you can't find it, pm me. Great prices and good stuff, especially for all things HK. Had to cut the forend down and remount the rear piece. Not to difficult. Thanks for the compliment.

  6. I agree the Saiga's are one helluva value. I treat all of mine like cheap whores though. Oh I clean and lube and all that but I throw 'em in the bed of the truck, lay 'em in the dirt/mud and shoot all the corrosive ammo I can find.

I wonder if I'm going to hell for this? All these pretty Saiga's here on this forum....guys painting them and arguing over what brush to use when cleaning the firing pin channel after 5 rounds.....yup...I bet I'm gonna burn in hell....oh well...hope the ol' Devil got some feral hogs and Saiga's for me....

I really like what you have done with yours...it does like very nice man............

Thanks for the compliment. As for how anyone treats their guns...to each his own. Uncle Sam paid me to drag mine around for 21 years...and I still took care of it! Have been too brainwashed to keep my guns in tip top shape. I tend to take care of things....not excessively but pretty close. I find that it costs less in the long run and just makes me feel better. Semper Fi!

  7. Have I ever mentioned HOW MUCH I LOVE MY SAIGA?? My most recent acquisition was a PTR-91K (carbine) and I must say, while shooting a .308 is fun, out of my AR (M-16A4), my converted Saiga, and my PTR...I still worship my Saiga over all of them. What a hoot at the range yesterday. I replaced the front sight post and added a commie flash suppressor/compensator (looks only, US made), so thought I would have to completely re-sight it. Nope. Just 4 down turns on the FSP and BAM! Right on target. No sniper awards for damn sure, but at 100 yards, put all 50 shots on a 12 by 12 inch target, with most of them in the center area. Am EXTREMELY happy with it. Mind you, the PTR is a much straighter shooter then I am....with a scope I am sure it would be devastating. Regardless, just thought I'd share a little. BTW...as for the AR, I really like the Matech rear sight. Very easy to operate. Here's a couple of pics....none of the AR in current config...BRS! :) BTW...currently have a Saiga-12 on layaway....hope it isn't a Vodka Special...but even if it is, plenty of great info here to fix it!

  8. Welcome aboard and be careful of this commie addiction! I have a AR, PTR-91, and converted Saiga 7.62 and I LOVE MY Saiga (and a Saiga-12 on layaway for Christmas)! Just feels right. Lot's of GREAT PEOPLE here, with tons of advice. Just be prepared for some very frank and honest opinions (which is why I love this forum). You will love it here. Semper Fi!

  9. When I was 15, I went with my Father to Furrs and he purchased a Ruger Security Six. He passed away the following year and I have had it ever since. BTW...I'm 47 now, and have fired probably around 300+ rounds (varying types) through it over the years. It is reliable, accurate and still in new condition. Not a SP 101 but probably not far from it.

  10. I have always supported the Law and the Officers who uphold it. That is how I was raised. I also believe, in general, that 'don't break the law and you have nothing to worry about'. Obviously, the rule of wrong place at the wrong time doesn't come into play here. Just as with Politicians, they ARE and SHOULD BE held to a higher standard. But, crooked, corrupt, Po-Po's should NOT be handled just like any other criminal. MOF IMO they should receive HARSHER punishment for obviously heinous crimes. They have the ability to dish out life and death and to drastically change someones life within a matter of seconds by making a bad or good judgment call. Just as they use to teach us in the Marines.....all it takes is one bad act by ONE Marine to undue what 100 Good Deeds were done by 10 Marines. Same holds true for LE. All it takes is one bad apple to ruin the bushel. Semper Fi!

  11. They are excellent rifles, the best part is you can change parts out with H&K parts, I do not know if anyone knows this but PTR came out with a PTR32 which is a 7.62X39 round, and a PTR44 8X33 cal.....

I would love to get the PTR44, but the price being in the $4000 range kinda of killed it.

On my 91 I replaced the alumium handguard with an early HK Black Slim Line Handguard and replaced the the plastic lower with a HK G3 Steel Clipped and Pinned Lower with SEF markings

You are the Man!! One question: Can you explain to me how you: 'HK G3 Steel Clipped and Pinned Lower with SEF markings"? I don't understand how (or which lower to purchase) to do it...as the Navy Lower has two holes for the mounting of the rear spring housing and butt stock. I know it is probably real simple...I just haven't figured it out yet. Then again.... Love your collection...will be looking at a DSA FAL in the future.....

A clipped & pinned lower is a modified full auto lower. Once modified and installed on a rifle this lower makes a HK style weapon appear to be full auto. In reality the gun is still a legal semi auto using your existing semi auto fire control group. This gives you the look or a real HK full auto while maintaining a legal semi auto.

A real FA lower has a front pushpin hole. A semi auto uses a shelf. You cut the pin to about 1/8" - 3/16" long from each end and epoxy or soldier each end into each side hole. Make sure it doesn't protrude into the interior and interfere with the semi-auto shelf.

I didn't use the Navy style lower. The grip don't feel right

    I ordered mine for here.

OK, so forgive me if I am slow....so there is no modification that is needed other then purchasing the lower from rtg? Will my trigger group fit this? Or will I have to buy the entire set?

  13. I just received mine. I was up in the air between a PTR-91 and a Saiga 308. Since I already have a saiga, decided to go with the PTR-91 16" carbine. It is most certainly well made! The parts are cheap, and you can't help but love the cost of magazines -.98 cents each at CTD. The rifle itself, to me, was expensive.

    Likes:

    1. .308

    2. VERY well made.

    3. Fit and finish is excellent.

    4. Heavy barrel.

    5. Magazines are HK made and cheap.

    5. HK parts are completely interchangeable (even if you have the carbine version like I do...but the wide hand guards are different)

    Dislikes:

    1. Heavy.

    2. Cock handle is difficult charge. Will probably loosen up in time, but will still be quite stiff.

    3. With stock configuration, front heavy.

    4. PTR barrel, not JLD. I have not shot mine yet, but I have no doubt that I will only be able to fire off the shelf ammo and not surplus ammo. This is not a problem to me, but for those that want to shoot German DAG, etc., it will jam. This is because PTR narrowed the flutes. Read more on this at militrayrfireames.com and the HK forums. PTR's website lists what ammo you can and cannot shoot. Again to me, this wasn't a show stopper, but I did consider it.

    5. Ejects casings into the 'future'. My next purchase will most definitely be a port cover.

I was looking more for retro look, so I converted mine to wood. The hand guard on the carbine is shorter, so I had to modify the rear portion. Hope this helps. Would I do it again....don't know as I have never spent this much on a rifle....but it is a keeper and will be inherited by my children someday.

  14. The cries against the actions of the old Chief ignore that this did not happen in the USA, it happened in Viet Nam during the war. If I was to walk into such an environment and see some hyper militant wacko butchering the families of my men, I am not sure what I would have done. When one of these men is taken into custody there will be reprisals, including kidnapping, in an attempt to free them. I can assure you that the laments of the hyper sensitive would be the least of my concerns in such a situation.

  15. Growing up in Lubbock Texas, my best from was a refugee from Vietnam. Him and his brother were adopted by a very good family. His two other siblings and parents made out just in time, to France. His father owned a textile mill in South Vietnam, so they weren't exactly poor. Well one night, they had an uninvited guest appear...you guessed it, which tried to slice and dice his family. I know the intruder was dispatched, I think by the private security guards/body guards they had. It only took one more attempt (where his father was actually wounded) before he decided to get the family out of country before it was too late. Unfortunately, I have lost contact with my good friend. I do hope to find him again. So, to that SOB that slaughtered that mans family, he got off WAY TO EASILY with a bullet shot to the head. CS should have been totally tortured and made to suffer as long as possible. Justice? F**k justice to scumbags like that. And I am very sorry that this honorable man that did the RIGHT THING, was persecuted for the rest of his life. Justice? This POS that killed innocent children, deserved justice? I don't think so...

  16. First time posting a pic of my lil ugly bastard.

    Surefire 15 round NJ legal

    sks sling

    G2 trigger

    tapco piston

    timbersmith unfinished birch foregrips

    home made grip and stock

I made the stock from a hunk of cherry to take the SGM tactical recoil pad off the factory saiga stock. I made the grip from a block of cherry to fit my hand.

The finish is from a jar of minwax dark red mahogany with a couple coats of clear coat. the birch handguards match the cherry grip and stock pretty well imho. lemme hear some feed back.

I posted a comment a few moments ago, but once again, I think it looks awesome! Love the butt stock and pistol grip. Well done!

  17. Very nice build! Yeah, I went with the BCM barrel and BCG as well. So, what is wrong with the rear sight? Unless it is a cheaply made one, it should work just fine. Worked fine for me in the Corps. I learned my lesson about buying cheap rear sights. I am going to buy a BCM Rear sight/carry handle after I get done with my PTR-91 stuff. I have a Matech 600 Meter Backup Sights (GI Issue) on it right now. Thought I would give it a shot. Anyway, great job and have fun with it!

  18. AHII and Gun Kote both work great. AHII works very, very well and is easy to spray. Gun Kote works best on a parked surface. That is what I have used it on and it is tough as nails. AHII worked on my Saiga and looks better then the original paint (not saying much there I guess). Just as Klassey said...degrease, degrease, and degrease again once you think it is done. That is the key. To me, Gun Kote was just as easy as AHII. I baked AHII at 185 for 1.5 hours and it came out dry enough to work with. It will harden even further. DO NOT use any lubricant on it until you are sure it is FULLY cured (I wait a week). Gun Kote has to sit for 30 minutes after applied, then baked at 300 degrees for 1 hour. After that, do want you want with it. Teflon Moly is good as well....but stinks like hell. Really was caught off guard by this and caught total hell from Mrs for it. When I refinished my AR lower, had to send it to my GS buddy to bead blast it. 3 days sitting in my witches brew of different paint removers didn't phase it a bit! Good luck and remember: if you think it is degreased enough....then do it again!
