that is a cool LH charger.

Handmade from flat bar and the trigger guard too, just like mine. I needed a solution to left side folder with left side charging handle that would not poke the user when slung, strong, quick to manipulate, could be used without a hand, didn't add a lot of weight to the carrier/weapon, simple, and generally did not add much width to the weapon. Not bad on the eyes was a welcome side effect. That design checked all of the boxes. A lot of thought went into my own weapon, the build template for evl grade builds.

I never liked others' efforts at left hand charging, save maybe the Lynch, but it didn't check all of the boxes. It is a very cool piece though.

I can't believe no one has commented about the short throw selector and the selector stop. I considered everyone's efforts at external stops and came up with the idea of an internal stop. What could be cleaner looking? It isn't quick or easy to do, but it yields a clean look and carries out the smooth feel of the exterior.

The only thing the evl grade builds don't have is my trigger. It is killing me to not have time to press that forward.

  2. The testing thing is what bugs me. I just don't understand why companies don't tease for a while, make sure it is good to go, and then release. Instead, they tease and release. Customer get to beta test on their dime to figure out they have a great looking paperweight. I keep forgetting that I have a few great reasons to make this gun run really short. I already started on my plan A and just haven't had time to take it the rest of the way.

My drum came in and it doesn’t lock in it needs to be worked on

google MD-20 drum fitting. It will be the same. Do the fitting in the correct order. Fit a very slight amount, check, repeat.

  4. To hazard a guess... someone had the idea, someone else 'engineered' it (simply made a .308 design into 12ga and dolled it up a bit, but made it a piston arrangement), and then efforts were made to make said something stick to the wall. Good on them for trying. It was indeed a great idea, but the execution fell short. They were not receptive at all to input when I contacted them early on. They already knew it all and that is probably why these things flopped. They didn't even get the machining for the safety detent right, lol. when I first went through it the entertainment factor was high. Still, it does have potential.

I'm not sure exactly how I will proceed. There are a few ideas rattling around my head. I'm still trying to get my mind past the thought of a company putting forth that much effort with so little basic understanding of what they are trying to do.

Did you ever end up doing this 6.5” build ?

Not yet. I'm working my way toward it though. There is quite a bit in front of it, but as soon as my pool company finishes the last remaining contracts things will go into turbo mode. I'm extremely excited about it. Free at last!

ETA: Believe I'll be posting pics and video of it. It will be cool to lay down video of the shortest great running KS-12. I may even do a 6.5" Lynx.

  6. Looking at the weapon and the parts diagram in the manual, it would be easy to assume that there was never one fully built and tested in Turkey that actually ran. Whoever designed it had no clue about pressure differences in 12 ga vs .308. As soon as I get everything else out of here and call in another batch I am going to spend some time in the lapse of custom work trying to re-design the bolt carrier in this one. It is the root of the problem. If it still won't run I am going to redesign the gas block. It should run then. If UTAS will buy that information, great. Otherwise, I'll offer a service to make these winners, assuming I can actually pull it off. I like a challenge, but I have a far greater appreciation for intelligent design.

What’s the difference in drums and stick mags as far as reliability with certain type ammos ?  Does it have to do with spring tension or ?

Drums will generally require stronger loads, assuming we are talking about a full drum and a gun that doesn't run great. Yes, resistance due to spring tension.

I did that with the Wife's S-.410 a few years ago. Not EASY, but it can be done if you have metalworking skill. I did it with only hand tools and time. Posted a bunch on it, look for it on the .410 thread. It works GOOD on the little .410, but i think it would be a bit 'punishing' on the 12.

+1 Punishment factor will likely be very high. It made me think back about me running a Romanian wire folder on my first S12. It only took a few shots to realize it was just as bad an idea as everyone said it would be.

Yeah , you definitely hit the little target on the top and made it swing back down.  The rate of fire on that one is really fast.  It almost seems as if you are firing burst fire. Great job man. So smooth and sweet !

Tapco G2 with short pull/short reset trigger job. I am basically toggling the reset and break. Minimal movement of the trigger finger and maximum result. I have been using test sessions as trigger control practice sessions. 2, 3, 4, and 5 shot strings. I don't get to shoot much outside of testing, so I have to make it work. Hopefully, that changes with the new year. I really want to spend some time shooting my own stuff for a change.

It shouldn't take a lot of time to learn to hit by means of point shooting. I learned it quickly early on. I started with 5 gallon buckets. It is so much faster than looking at sights.

  10. I repaired one early on that had the trunnion welded in and an ACE type plate welded on the back, the barrel was supposed to be 8" but was 10-5/8", the bolt had been milled completely through to where the firing pin is (no clue what they were trying to achieve), barrel had a lot of ports in it, receiver cover was basically trash, and gas block was on with screws in it (yes, where the pins go). It didn't run at all and was basically ready to be scrapped. Hardly anything on it was any good. I brought it back. New barrel, new bolt, AK100 (with rivets, lol), and a lot of other corrective work. People do some stupid stuff and this was all done by another shop.

so, if folks arent aware, i think there is a real cool option in terms of SBS builds.  correct me if i get this wrong:

step 1: get your shotgun of choice

step 2: efile a form 1 for sbs.  they are allegedly sitting at 10 days turnaround time! 10 days!!! thats amazeballs!  i would do all kinds of stuff if it didnt require half of a years wait!

step 3:  receive stamp back, engrave your trust or name or whatever is pertinent (what happens if you move? if you just put city and state if you dont havea trust?)

step 4:  chop barrel to whatever you like.

step 5: send to evl to actually make it work, assuming you go short and want gas block moved and op rod shortened

step 6: he makes it great like frosted flakes and gets it back to you, all while saving 7-9 months!!

like i said, im not sure how all this works, but thats what i read on (b)arfcom the other night...

I wish it all worked like that. Until I get caught up, it is make contact, get in line, wait, send the weapon in, wait, and finally enjoy it. After existing contracts are finished, my partner and I have decided to let the pool company hibernate until the market settles down. It has been a real thrown in the side for both of us. There is money there, but we're both over it. We may really love the break and close the company down altogether. We both have better things to do than build pools. Builds will move in and out much faster.

I am not fond of working on things after others, especially when they chop it, it doesn't run, and they have tried 'everything' (every bad idea, lol) and it still doesn't run. I've seen some really bad ideas implemented, even from other shops. It costs more that way. An un molested gun is the best starting point and will yield the best results. Chop and fire strong loads while you wait for intake is about the next best thing.

Who'd have thought we'd EVER see the day the cartels would do a good deed, even if it's for the wrong reason? Hopefully they'll "take care" of the problem for us.

The left will find a way to blame whatever happens on Trump. I have been talking with some democrats and it has become clear to me that they are not interested in truth. Emotional issues mean more to them than their freedom and finances. I will never understand. They will take whatever the media lays out... hook, line, and sinker.
