  1. I have a Springfield Loaded in stainless, run all sorts of ammo through it from the cheap to the expensive and it hasn't jammed yet. I had heard of a number of problems with the Kimber extractors. You could find out a lot more at the 1911 forum. Those guys live for that gun.

  2. CNN had a little blurb today about the Supreme Court and the DC weapons ban. A ruling will come out Thursday. Interesting that even CNN admits that most politicians generally vote pro-guns due to the fact most of their constituents are pro-gun. It is the small vocal, whiney minority that cause the bans in the first place. Even Australia is starting to loosen their gun ban law. Just my 2 cents.

  3. Washington is o.k. for gun laws but you can't own a silencer or an SBS or SBR which rules out owning a Tromix 8". Alaska is quite good for gun laws and you don't even have to have a permit to carry concealed. I am assuming you are in the military. Ft. Richardson is a big base in Anchorage. You also cannot beat the hunting there. Lived there for 25 years, loved it. Had to move to Wa for work. If I could have the job and the house I have now there, I would be back in a second.

  4. Not that I want to get back to the topic at hand but the fact is, we may not see prices like we had again. It is for nothing else but the devaluation of the US dollar. Prices go up on imported items because the dollar doesn't buy what it used to. I am still having trouble that the Canadian dollar (loonie) is about equal to the US dollar. I know that realistically, the production cost for an S-12 is not much, but I just get the feeling that until our economy is back on track, prices will just keep climbing. Just my 2 cents (now worth only 1.76 cents).

  5. A few more thoughts. First, most LPNs out in the civilian world work in nursing homes, simple fact. You already have more skills than most LPNs ever will. Getting your EMT you could do on the side while you are still in. It doesn't take that long and again, you already have more skills than most EMTs do. I know the obligation you feel, given the opportunity (wife says hell no) I would go back in either full or reserve. Its folks like you that make our military so outstanding. My guess is that you didn't join for the money, don't make that the reason you stay.

  6. Why not try to get into the army medic to nurse program? When I went to school, one of the few other guys in the BSN class with me was an army medic who was having the military pay for all of his schooling. When we finished he was given a comission. He seems pretty happy with it. As far as the critical care nurse aspect of it, I don't know how the military decides who gets to do it and for how long. When I got out of the coast guard, I knew that I wanted to do critical care and was able to get into an ER internship program after I finished. Not a day goes by that something interesting doesn't happen. You have a few more options open in the civilain world plus you can always quit the job and go elsewhere if you want, no need to get permission. Just my 2 cents.

  7. Just woke up and read on the news that a huge bomb was disarmed in downtown London. Said it was packed with gas and nails. That could have been nasty. The government hasn't directly said it was Al Queda but suspicions are high. If that isn't a big warning to us here, I don't know what is. Of course we've already had lots of other heads-ups but I still don't think we are ready for something like this.
