  1. Also, can one tap the rifle for the guide with a drill or do I need something fancier?
  2. On the S12 trigger not resetting. Make sure the legs of the main spring are on the back of the trigger. You may need to put a small bend in the right arm towards the BHO to keep it on the trigger. The 5.45 will need a bullet guide. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-MAGAZINES-dsh-DRUMS-cln-SAIGA-5.45X39/Categories The right leg of the spring was on the trigger but kind of laying diagonally across it and the "foot" was not on the back like it is supposed to be. Hopefully that will fix it. I thought I had read on several occasions that only the x39 needed a guide
  3. I took my three latest projects out to old family land to test out today, my range being closed due to idiocy. Damned if there weren't poachers there I had to deal with, but thats beside the point. 12 #1, md20 wouldnt lock up, but otherwise ran perfect. Should be an easy ten seconds with the dremel. 12 #2, trigger stays stuck back after firing, and had to be pushed forward in order to fire a second time. I havent opened it up yet in case I need to look for something specific before I start messing. Im hoping this is an easy fix. This one DOES have a BHO if it matters. 5.45, Fi
  4. Stuck it in the freezer for a day, then had a friend hold it steady. Got em out. Thanks
  5. I did my older import s12 with no problems, but this new 545 is being a bitch. Have ground the three rivet things holding the trigger plate on to flush, and tried to knock them out. I succeeded only in knocking the trigger plate off, but apparently didnt push the rivets down at all. FWIW, on my old s12 these knocked out with minimal problems. Just curious how others have dealt with this. I dont know if a drill press, or a press press, would be best to get them out. I have neither. Now that the plate is gone I am hesitant to grind or drill with the margin for error much smaller.
  6. Good to know, anyone know about the shotties, or the 308?
  7. Like the title says, will a 223 tube fit a x39, or a 12 ga. for that matter?
  8. Working on a project right now and over the years Ive aquired a few G2 FCGs. With my recent s12 conv I used a G2 that had clearly been assembled and then re-sold to me, as such it had the spring. Just opened up a supposedly brand new G2 and there is no spring, although the spring is in step 1 of the instruction booklet. Looked at my other supposedly new g2 and I dont see a spring in there either. Is this common, and can someone recommend an acceptable substitute I can get from Lowes?
  9. Just realized that my x39 saiga which someone else converted does not have the Tapco logo on the left lower side of the trigger. Opened it up and I can read FSE USA on the left of the hammer and disconnector and sear, but there is nothing I can see on the trigger. Does Falcon mark their triggers?
  10. Recently did my conversion (S12) and realized that even with the moved PG, it is still quite awkward to get your hand on the HG with an MD20 drum in it. So I just got my intrafuse HG and the "Finger groove" forward grip from CSS. Got to say, Im not thrilled with the forward grip. Most of all, it doesnt tightly lock up with the rail and feels flimsy. It is also much fatter than I had expected. There are a couple of slim side panels that can be removed which helps a little at the expense of comfort. The storage tube in the grip is actually a separate tube which comes out of the grip, and t
  11. Title says it all. All Ive found is a couple on auction.
  12. OK, was just on the super-cool checklist, and realized with my FH, PG, and HG, and all US mags and drums, I dont even need a g2 for 922r gayness. Can the original FCG be used in the new location?
  13. thanks CSS, how much of the right side of the hammer needs to come off? 1mm?
  14. OK, I have her completely stripped and painted. Can someone explain the above to me, I need to get my FCG ready for when the paint cures, I am stoked!
  15. I am about to finish getting the shoulders of the two rivet things and can then address removing the FCG. Can someone explain why modified FCGs are offered for conversions, so I know why I shouldn't use the G2 I already have and save 50$? Thanks
  16. Alright, so I have finally broken down to convert my s12. I bought a tak47 all in one trigger guard thing. First, is there a video around here I haven't found on installing one of these? Second, tak47 instructions, step 2, say: remove FCG and ALL ORIGINAL SAIGA LINKAGE by grinding down the 2 pins on the right side of the receiver. WTH is saiga linkage? Much apprciated- DR
  17. Im looking at a tac-47 brand trigger guard/selector stop/ PG bolt. Claims I can use this to convert my s12 in 15 minutes. Sounds too good to be true. Any experience with this product, or recommendations for something similar?
  18. back from the dead. just wanted to update, i finally got to try hte md20 with federal, ran two drums with zero problems. thanks for the feedback.
  19. 1- will do 2- one the drum that didnt, i took the probelm drum, now unloaded, and stuck it in, locked up no problem. i did try to lock it up loaded at teh range several times, so i dont think it was a fluke. my best guess is maybe the last round wasnt loaded right, protruding a bit, and got in the way???? im really puzzled. btw the red ammo was the winchester, the black was some other cheapo i had lying around that i mixed in. ill try to pick up a box of federal.
  20. sorry i should have known to mention the ammo used. it was wallyworld cheap red and black birdshot, with a few KO slugs thrown in randomly. No difference in function between the ammo types. Just liked to hang up now and then. as far as being broken in, it is a fairly well used shotty with the agp mags. im not worried about one not locking up as i am going to sell it and let the buyer fit it to their s12 if need be. i just want to know if i can decrease the FTFs.
  21. Hope im not asking something already covered here. Finally got to test out my MD20's tuesday. one fit, one didnt. since im planning to sell one im happy with the one that fit out of the box. however, with the drum that already fit, i had a fair amount of ftf problems. the round would get about halfway into the chamber before hanging up. i could either push the bolt carrier forward to feed it, or charge it again. however, i only got one complete 20 round run out of it. tried a dab of oil to the ramp but it didnt help. is this something i can adjust the spring for? any help appre
