  1. For RED333 - next on the list is the Saiga 308. I dont think I will move the trigger group as I like it as a hunting rifle but definitely need to get a better trigger in there. For Saiga Newbie - the conversion was not difficult. But for my first time I forgot a few things that ultimately made me waste time. For one I used the CSS kit and was basing my build off of his videos. The first thing I forgot about was with the pin retaining plate you need to either order the modified bolt hold open plate or dremel out a notch in the original. This I forgot about so as I put everything in I w
  2. So after all the motivation from everyone I set aside some time to do the conversion myself. Actually I got sick so I took a few days off from work and was bored of sitting in bed so I went ahead and did the conversion.
  3. From the album: My Saiga's

    Finished the conversion myself, finally

    Saiga 308

I am also curious as to who manufacturers that stock. Thanks Nodott
  5. Thanks for the info everyone. I never thought that either company would sell junk but just wanted to be sure if there would be any differences to be aware of. Nice to see EWOKETEEr that your a Pacfic Northwestener, I myself live in University Place.
  6. Crazy Question, Between the Mississippi Auto Arms and Carolina Shooter Supply which both offer conversion kits I would like to know are they the same when it comes to the internals (disregarding the stocks and grips and trigger guards) or would there be significant differences too look out for? Thanks Lee
  7. Well thanks. I didn't know about the videos. I start watching them today. Lee
  8. So I keep putting off the conversions to my Saiga 12 for the past couple of years and now with no time to do them I have convinced myself that I need to just pay someone else to do this or it will never get done. So what I needed to know if anyone on this forum knows of anyone that does that type of work here in Western Washington? Lee
  9. That is true but its still not right to have those clips break. It makes me wonder what kind of overall stresses this drum is taking to just have those clips break.
  10. So contacted ProMag today and they did give me an RMA for sending the drum back. Chances are they will just replace the cover....
  11. I may just do that and give them a call and at least see what they say. I did purchase this over a year ago and don't remember what the warranty was so they most likely will say sorry cant help ya. As for what TonyRumore was asking. This broke from firing it on Sunday morning at the range. Prior to that it held up for and had been working since I bought just a little over a year ago.
  12. After posting this the first thing I did was start looking at the other brands available and everyone really likes their MD20. I also looked at the Wraithmaker 30 but holy crap is that a lot of money for a drum.
  13. Well crap! after getting the Saiga12 to cycle with the 2-3/4in shells with the ProMag 20rnd drum it decided to break on me.
  14. Finally finished with a little add on to the 12. Didn't want to go too crazy but wanted to add a little character to it. Its sitting next to my Saiga .308. Lee
  15. Well it looks as if I will need to keep on the lookout for one.
  16. Does anyone know if this Bulgarian skeleton stock can be purchased by itself? Has anyone ever used this on a Saiga 12? I have been looking around but cannot seem to locate of these stocks
  17. Has anyone ever used this ammo for their 308? I was curious how well it shoots. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=A308DAG Lee
  18. Well today I picked up a couple of bags of the South African battle packs. So hopefully when the weather gets better I can take it out soon. Lee
  19. Nope no wobble - I took my time in taking a little bit off at a time, even though it only took me about 5 minutes to do. Lee
  20. What do you think about this DAG ammo. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=A308DAG It seems to have a pretty good price for a 200rnd battle pack. Lee
  21. Thanks for the info guys. I see that SurplusAmmo has the South African Battle Pack available and the good thing is they are just a 10 minute drive for me. Lee
  22. So on Saturday I purchased a Saiga 12 and now today I purchased a Saiga 308. For the 308 what is the best but also most reasonable ammo to shoot with it. I know tha the Hornady TAP is the best for defense but when it comes to be price conscience I want to shoot somehting that is good but not going to be terribly expensive. I was looking at the Magtech .308 which seems to be a nicely priced ammo but I don't know how good it is. So please let me know what. Thanks Lee
