My eyes are bad so I use a red dot and don't worry about the sights. If I need to use them the rds is on a quick release. Mike

The rail does not extend all the way back. Only about halfway. The only pic I have it has rail covers on it. Hope it helps. Mike ETA The "R" stands for rail. It's just a short fore grip.
