  1. So when are we going to see these rifles? I saw an add almost a year ago (in a magazine) that these chamberings were coming. Also, assuming the AWB ends in September, what new configurations can we expect to see in the Saiga rifles?
  2. Quail_Fat, That pic is just awesome.
  3. I went home and took out my Saiga last night (I often do just to admire it). It looks like all I'd have to do is remove a couple of screws and the butt stock would come off. If that's all there is to it, I shouldn't have any trouble at all swapping stocks. I love the simplicity of these guns.
  4. Well, I saw your stock designs, and I especially like the thumbhole stock. If you can list some prices, I'm pretty sure I'll want one. Just make sure to include installing instructions for newbies like myself. Is this a legal modification to the rifle, or would I have to replace a bunch of other parts too? Gandalf
  5. Welcome to the club Onepoint. You're right that it may be the cheapest out there, but I think these Saigas are great bang for the buck. I think the .223 model is the perfect compromise between AK reliability and AR accuracy. As for sights, I'm looking for a decent scope to help me out with those 100+ yard shots anyway. The Soviet open sight system may not be the greatest, but they work ok for those shots out to 100 yards or so. Then again, my eyesight requires a scope for the longer shots.
  6. Sorry to ask so many questions. I'm so excited about my Saiga, I just want to get the most out of it. Are there any optics and scope mounts that are ideal for the Saiga .223? I'm looking for an economic option for about a 3x to 6x scope and mount. Doing some research, I found Kalinka Optics. I don't know if they're a good deal or if there's something better out there. Do the POSP/PSO scopes work well?
  7. Thank you, that was just the type of answer I was hoping for! I asked because I've heard how some AR rifles can have serious problems using the milspec ammo when they're strictly chambered for .223. I figured that an AK type rifle wouldn't be nearly as picky, but I wanted to ask just to make sure.
  8. Is it safe to use 5.56 Nato military ammunition in the Saiga rifle? Has anyone here used this ammunition. I'm interested in getting some and trying it out, but I don't want a catastrophic malfunction either.
  9. Well, I got a chance yesterday to shoot the Saiga. I only did some short range plinking (25 - 80 yards), but so far I'm very happy with it. I hit everything I aimed at shooting offhand. Considering my eyes aren't the greatest, that really means something. The rifle worked flawlessly, and I'm looking forward to doing some shooting at ranges out to 200 yards or more.
  10. Hello everyone. I just bought a new Saiga .223, and I'm excited to say the least. I normally don't care for the standard configuration of an AK, but these Saigas look great. I haven't had an opportunity to shoot it yet, but I'll make sure to provide a range report when I do. If it performs as well as I hope it does, I'll start saving up to get another within a year or so. Maybe a .308 with the long barrel. One question: If the 1994 AWB ends this coming year (hope springs eternal), are there any plans to import higher capacity magazines? Also, I'd love to see some thumbhole stocks
