  1. Hey Saiga guys Have 2 Saigas .308 and .223 both converted. I'm am avid reloader and both were wreckin my brass so I got Valmet port buffers for both. 223 flawless. .308 not so much first 150 to 200 rounds worked well then the clip snapped buffer went fly'in and the clip in the action. Called RTG no problem sent me a new one asap got it installed it and its starting to go so I got a new dust cover welded the clip on slipped the rubber in and looks like it will be just fine think the 308 has to much wack as it was made for a 7.62x39 It works well if not for the extractor mar
  2. Doing a conversion on a 308 did one a few weeks ago on a 223 came out nice. I have 1 day tomorrow to do this with my son i got all the parts we want and screwed the pooch and forgot the trigger gaurd so gonna use the old one could use some advise on the best way I am all set up w/tools torch welder but i dont think it's that hard. Thanx Tim
  3. Looking to put a bolt cover and selector from ak on a saiga .308 Will it fit??
  4. Herd good things about this and rtg offers lil info How dose it attach? Is it possable to quickly change from gun to gun 223 to 308? Most importantly will i be able to reuse my brass cause as of now 223 is totaly useless to reload. Thanx
  5. Welcome Bill 15years myself. The Saiga I currently own 2, 223 and 308 was a lil worried that I wouldent like the stamped recivier LOVE IT its nothing but fun, cheap price, ammos cheap really on target Tons of cheap quality after market parts the only reason i did not get the 7.62x39 is that I have 2 SKSs you may want to look at that as well Big-5 has NIBUI new in box unissued $499 and i paid less then that for the saiga 223 w/21''barrell I really think the saiga is a good gun and everybody that shoots it is suprized and loves it. Also check out the gun broker .com i buy and sell tons of st
  6. Converted the siaga 223 and came out nice my son wants for it to bump fire a lil better NOT AUTO I know but he's a man and going to do it and I trust him As dose he trust me to make it work safe we got the SKSs going well. Now what he is lookin for is shoulder bumpfire and is it legal to alter it for that?
  7. Was mowing the lawn and said to myself Self you have been havin a lil trouble with 308 shoulders 1 in 50 to 100 have a slight bump on the shoulder that keeps it from feeding not yet sure what the cause yet this weekend is tear down time from brassdies press and rifles 3 308s and see whats gouin on. Thanks for your input really helpful.
  8. Thank you now i am worried about the 308 the piston is as tight as whale pussy. no wiggle what so ever.
  9. So i read on the fourm how to do the mag conversion so yesterday I have 10 mags all apart in the living room springs followers dremmel sawzall and one of my renters walks in WTF all that for two rounds and for just one second I looked wow for two rounds then in an instant what do you mean ten is so much better then 8 and here in ca. 10 is max (ASS HOLES) Would have done for one round. All function PERFECT thank you for the detailed info. A FINE JOB!
  10. Happy as Michael Jackson in boys town to have found this fourm. I got 2 saigas and on the 223 where the piston screws in then has a pin to prevent it turning got a lil wiggle on my 308 its as tight as can be is this the norm am i just over thinking 70years of AKs? thanx
  11. You know I did not give much thought to the bolt not being locked in but you are right. I did some work on it last night got my handy dremmel out and smoothed all that the bolt carrier rides on as well as the carrier then polished it up action seems a bit smoother. So next trip out if this happens again I need to stop and inspect the ammo the case really with a case that worked. Thank you for the heads up
  12. That is very weird but the tail hump on the back of the carrier should keep the hammer from hitting the firing pin until the round is in battery. The hammer is probably forcing the bolt the rest of the way into battery before the primer gets detonated. There must be a lot of drag in your bolt and carrier and frame rails. Yeah weird is right I was amazed at how far back it can be and still shoot now i was expecting that kinda thing from the 223 i converted but other then wreckin brass that thing shoots really well. maybe once i convert the 308 that maybe all it needs.
