If you think this is a good idea...attachicon.gifimage.jpg

Ouch. Is there a rifle in that picture

    That being said....

You own many guns, but no hunting rifles.

Call me tacticool. I like to shoot. But I'm not a hunter. I spend pretty much every day really hot, cold, wet, sweaty, and generally uncomfortable. The idea of doing that in my spare time doesn't interest me. Closest thing I come to hunting is a good deal in chicken breast at my local grocer.

I respect the guys that do. But man, that's not for me.

Not saying I won't buy a couple more bolt actions. Because I DO like those.

Not even woodchucks? Pigeons? Clay pigeons? It doesn't have to be uncomfortable to hunt.

I've been invited a couple times to go on a canned hunt that was described to me as " we walk around, shoot the birds they send out, give the birds to the employees, them go back to the lodge and drink our faces off. "

My choices for that right now are an s-12 that was built by a former respectable vendor here that doesn't cycle birdshot or a mossberg that has a bull barrel so heavy it qualifies for a lifting session. Couple that with the fact I don't drink save the occasional glass of wine and its just not for me. I've had some good deer stew, and I'd love to try some bear, or moose burgers, but I think id rather buy it than hunt it. I give credit to the guys who hunt, but its not for me.

And just for shits and giggles.

You might be tacticool if- you've ever shot yourself in the foot while drawing and threatening a silhouette. And weigh 300lbs.

  2. So I've been on a bit if a spring cleaning kick these last few days and I'm trying to figure out a good way to store my spare mags. Right now I have no real system- a grocery bag here, a box there, shipping envelopes. It's a bit chaotic right now and I want to straighten it out.

At first I thought Rubbermaid totes, but I'm not sure that's a good idea with no air movement. I could add a drying compound or desiccant, but that's just one more thing to keep track of and I'm totally buggered if the desiccant breaks free and lands on anything still dipped in cosmoline.

I have a few cedar boards left over from an old deck project and I was thinking of building wood crate or two. I could customize it for what I have and want to get. It's pretty dry wood, so I think I'm safe. Plus I could leave some air gaps for circulation

Whatever I do, it has to compact and efficient. Myself, my wife, and two daughters all share an 850 sq ft house ( though that number does not include the basement where these would be stored) so every inch counts. I'm willing to spend money to do this well, but I don't want to go nuts.

So what do you guys do?

    Thanks for the input.

  4. Well, I was at the gym and not a word on the 5 o'clock news. To be fair, I didn't catch the end, but it doesn't seem likely that that is where they'd put it. Or maybe they would, I don't know. Big suprise as for months prior to getting cc they printed editorial after editorial about how Chicago would become "the Wild West" and how the "streets would run red with blood".

Hey, with number of homicides they have, the streets are already pretty dang red. If I see any coverage, ill post it.

The shooter was probably told he couldn't have any ketchup on his hot dog. :killer::angry:

What is it with Chicago and having some ketchup put on your hot dog?  After all, I paid for the f**ker.

Dude, Gaddis, don't ask me. I live in the outlying burbs but work in the city often. Trying to get a hot dog any other way then "the Chicago way" is damn near impossible. There's a small chain starting up of hot dogs from different areas of the country. My two favorites ? The Green Bay- ketchup and hot nacho cheese. And the Des Moines ( been awhile, not sure on the town) hotdog with pull pork and a little BBQ sauce.

So not all of us have a problem with that :)

    Gunfun +1

I remember the coverage if that mall shooter, just like you said. If I find any, ill try to post.

  5. Okay boba, calm down.

I don't know shit about this plane other then what is available to the "civilian" population. Ya know. The people paying for the damn thing.

I won't speak to the other comments. I don't know, and I can't defend them. That's up to them.

What I will say, in regards to what I said, is that the yahoo article only mentioned cameras on the underbelly and the cost if the helmet. I don't know shit about planes. If you do, please enlighten us. Didn't know about other cameras. How can I?

Say what you want. As a loose rule of thumb working in the construction industry for 15 years I learned a few things. Multitools suck. They purport themselves as being able to replace several tools but in actuallity just do the that job in a much more poor quality fashion while saying. " hey. I can do it!"

I abhor anything that says it can replace 3 of my tools and do the same job just as well

I've already realized the engineer is an idiot and should be designing mini golf arenas.

    But hey. That's just me

  6.

Actually, I should have been more specific..."gun ownership -not gun control- makes people safer" would be correct. It is nice to see people come around to what many of us have already known for a while.

That and with gun ownership at an all time high, there are a lot more people that "gun control" affects. No one seems to care about an issue until it affects them personally, and it is their rights that are being infringed upon.

That is sadly the case. Its good that people are choosing to buy them more of their own choice since I shudder to think what government subsidized guns would look like.

    GLOCKS

Nah, more like shitty high points.

Well, if the lifestyles of the locals on government assistance have any indication, it would be les Baer 1911's High end benellis, and. Um. Well. An ar that costs about 3g's ( I'm on an ak forum wtf do I know about ar's :) )

Total thread derail. I've dealt with this personally several times. Drives me nuts.

  7. Well from what I understand, and not personal experience, the stg was a real good, if not hard to manufacture, machine gun.

Anyways , in regard to the 22. A big old FAKE of what it claimed to be does not fill the role if what it is expected to to be.

    Nobody likes liars.

I don't think there are a dozen people on this forum that will understand what I just said.

But one will. And for whatever pointless pointlessness that is. I will say it. Liars suck.

  8. Liken that bullpup dad

Funny this should come up. Despite an extreme lack of reasonably priced Cci mini mags I've been feeling my 22 selection lacks. So I've been looking.

The stg? Yeah a shop kinda far from me always has one. Heavier than hell IMO but ill buy one one day. They are neat.

10/22? Been there. Done that. And that. And that. But, still, versitale. Ill do "that"a few more times in the next 20 years.

15 22 39 45 s&w mp j&o f&u. Crap. I'm tired of typing that into gunbroker. I've got a couple. Very awesome very close to ar controls. I've got a pink camp one I bought two years ago for my 7 year old who will get it when I think she's ready. (Soon).

    My current interests?

    Another 10/22. Yeah, I know

Hk 416. I'm not paying 4 gs for "the gun that got O' man. "

    I will pay 550 for a reasonable 22 clone

    Stg- history, man

Colt something something. Haven't seen one in a bit and forgot what the numbers are. But I held one a few years back and I remember hands down it had the closest ar controls ever.

Iirc and feel free to call bullshit I held a sig 22 awhile back. Dumbest mag release ever. I realize my life will never depend on this rifle. Doesn't mean engineering needs to mail it in.

Let us know what you decide.

Eta no feeding problems or otherwise with any of my 10/22 or s&w m&p15 22 (see what I mean? :) )

To be fair- I've only shot Cci mini mags.

  9. I had read about the pilots helmet awhile back and meant to post it but I forgot.

Supposedly it (the helmet) costs 400 thousand. Each. The plane is supposed to have multiple cameras on the underbelly and when the pilot looks down can actually see through the plane.

I agree from what I've read that the f35 fails to deliver. But that is pretty cool. Of course, my personal experience with air combat ends at, well, ace combat the video game. So I don't really know if that's practical for the money spent.

Also reading on Wikipedia they talk about how there are software issues and the plane currently has either 2 million or billion lines of code ( I can't remember, either way, that's a lot of code) and while we are willing to sell the plane to our allies, there is no plan to sell te code with it. Who the hell will want to buy that? And the price per unit climbs higher.....

  10. He's a public figure so they have to be careful demoning him away. Only way they could crack down on him the same way they'd do to normal people is if they found a body double and made it seem he went the full Dennis Quaid.

    Maybe I missed it.

What ? Shitty career, followed by house squatting and jail? Mmmm not so much

Dennis was funny in lampoons. Humorous in Independence Day. Dude. Get a real job.

  11. Heartbreaker

    Sorry if I mislead.

    Oh no no.

Haven't shot it but that 590 is awesome. Heavier then shit, but awesome, forgot exactly what, but paid damn near nothing for it- looking for a twin, just cuz.

Will probably buy another 590 sooner rather than later for the kit you posted for fun. Most tube shotties are super cheap which is nice.

Definetly not looking to sell, not my style, I'm sorry if if misled you. But thanks for the link to accessories, I do appreciate that.

ETA wow. Extremely difficult to correct a post for spelling tonight. Guess issss oooookkkk eeeffff I sound lyke a duuummmmeee

  12.

My suggestion would be to put 300 aside and order a kel tec sub 2k in whatever your flavor. That way when it arrives in a year you won't feel you've waited too long and you won't have paid two times that on gunbroker.

Kel tec just came out with a second generation that looks pretty cool. I haven't taken it much further than that. Also fwiw I've heard that the 40 cal can have feeding issues. I never verified that but it was a persistent rumor. They are fun to shoot

Never had any problem that wasnt related to ammo (cheap remans and then only two ) and god only knows how many rounds have gone though it. Either cal works fine and if one doesnt then fix the bitch and move on.

Cannot for the life of me understand why they produce them so slow, hey it's Kel-Tec may be the only answer we ever get.

    Ah well

    Well said

Didn't really research the mythical 40 problem because I don't shoot 40. Really wish they made a 45... Still consider an hk ump or USC or whatever the hell I'm allowed to own. Probably end up with a Thompson.

Wish I knew why they made them so slow, they are a quick seller. Also wish there were more aftermarket parts for them.

  13. Qt? Only taquitos I get are at 711 if my daughters are good in church - hey nothing says good behavior like bribery... Anyways most suck but the Monterey Jack chicken are pretty good.

I've eaten at jersey mikes- they're ok, a little overpriced but way better then jimmy jones IMO. Freaky fast? Yeah, no shit, I can make a lunch meat sandwich too, and not pay 8 bucks for it. Credit to there marketing department.

I've been trying to find a good Philly steak sandwich nearby for years. Lots of places in the ghettos make good ones. The greasy spoons there are great. (So long as can see them make my food). Haven't had much luck locally. Strangely, in a bad pinch, Walgreens makes one that isn't horrible.

Lunch was half a roast beef, bottle of water and a fiber one. Dinner will most likely be an apple and half a can of Campbell's chicken noodle. If my daughters let me eat. Past 7, I just wait for breakfast.
