Ended up going with this set up: oem saiga 12 hand guards with rail for light, took off the magwell and reprofiled and polished my bolt for my new izhmash factory 8 rounder's, eliminated the 12 round mags for 8 rounder's, took off the vltor stock for a usa made black polymer warsaw length fixed stock. She is MUCH lighter and MUCH more manageable. I am loving all of the changes. Thanks for all of the ideas, advise and links.

Lead is softer than steel so your barrel length should last longer, but I do not know anyone who has 'shot out' a shotgun barrel. Your barrel is not going to explode unless you have some serious issues like a bad headspace or a bullet getting stuck in the barrel and you shooting again.

Another question: I am looking for an authentic stock for the Saiga 12 (not the sport usa version). Are these the AK100 series folders? Side note: I ordered up the Saiga factory hand guards with rail from rusmilitary. Thanks again.

Understood all of the above comments. Been around a while, but new to these forums. I will save funds until I can purchase a standard polymer stock (in a short term bind right now). Looking into what smb had posted right after this. If I had a handgun, I would feel just fine without a light since my other hand would be free to turn on lights, but since I would be using a two handed firearm then I feel as thought the light could still be useful. Thank you for all the help/ideas.

Currently I am looking to lighten up my S12. I have on a rail system that I am thinking of taking off and putting on the factory hand guards, but their is a flashlight on my rail. How can I attach the surefire 300 to my S12 so that it is lighter than my current CSS Rail? I also have a Vltor stock on my S12. Thinking of replacing this with a more authentic stock. Size of the SMG Tactical 8 and 10 rounder's? Looking to get a few of the 8 or 10 rounder's. I have a few of the 12 rounder's, but am looking to get some smaller mags (leaning towards the 8 rounders) so I can put them into a molle type vest. Speaking of which, what molle mag pouches are some people recommending? Thank you.

Thanks everyone, you have all been very helpfull! I am going to go with a non-folding set-up to start out with and a DPH SKELETON STOCK 9" SOLID BILLET I like the fact that these are made from aluminum.

Hello! I am new to these fourms but not to firearms. Please help with this easy question, I would love to hear opinions! What has worked for you? I am new to these fourms and have made up my mind about what pistol grip set up I am going to use. Which stock set ups are the best for a sturdy stock that can take as much beating as the AK? I was thinking about a folding stock and eventually adding an optic to the left side. Will the right hand folding stock interfear with the operation of the bolt? Will certain stocks not interfear?
