  1. Sorry to hear that.

A little competition has always resulted in new innovations that benefit the consumer.

Your contribution to the sport will be missed.

    Bill

I have always been more than satisfied with your products Tony.

Including my MKA trigger and disconnector, and Saiga parts.

Sorry to see you move away from the MKA.

  2. Great products as ever, when the non XN are available I will take both the gas piston and guide rods.

I assume it will run smoother.

    Hi SteveUK.

It's great to hear from a UK MKA owner. You may already know this:

These parts may or may not smooth our shotguns. (No claim was made at least, correct me if I'm wrong)

US regulations require a foreign firearm to have a certain number of US parts before we can have high capacity magazines (ten or more for shotguns) a pistol grip, flash suppressor's, bayonet lugs and folding and/or adjustable butt stocks. It's a Federal thing known as 922r.

So, some parts, like the gas piston are easily changed for domestic parts, only to comply with the 922r regulation.

  3. I heated my XN's guide rod with a heat gun and it came out easily with a stud puller. I filed a bit of the alignment pin on the back plate instead of drilling the receiver. I had to dremel some plastic inside the upper in the front to clear the barre,l maybe 1/8". No problems with the op rod nuts on mine. I haven't put rails on yet. I think the shorter handguard and operating rod drops a few ounces probably.

I like the fit and feel over the stock handguard.

Oh yeah the guide rod is solid.

  4. I bought an US Machine folding stock adapter for my incoming Faxon ARAK. There's no slop side to side, some movement up and down. There is a small hole in the middle of where the buffer would go (to vent air ?) on the section that attaches to the reciever. I'm sure this could be bored out to access the rear reciever bolt of the MKA.

    Are these made of steel?

How thick is the hinge pin?

    Thanks

  5. Since these guns are based on the Remington 1100 gas system they require that same long dwell time to function properly. If you cut the barrel back you'll shorten the dwell time substantially, and the gas system doesn't lend itself to much modification to compensate. Even our high-energy operating system has issues with short barrels. There was a company, their name escapes me at the moment, that cut a few barrels back and welded brakes on them but they didn't have much luck getting them to run properly without shooting ultra high-power loads.

I found some info with Google on modded MKA barrels:

Gabe Suarez's TSD modded some MKA-1919's for a while when they first came out.

    Does anyone here have one?

  6. Here's my mongrel.

Salem 6 handguard, S&W M&P stock (with a Limbsaver snap on pad) on Firebird stock adapter, XN upper on Firebird recycled (pre-XN) lower with metal feed ramp. Tromix hand grip adapter, gas piston and trigger/disconnector set. Cole Saiga 12 choke adapter with (made in USA) Saiga clone muzzle device. Tried the T + N bolt handle but it needs more work.
