I did use the sleeve. I guess since I will likely have to take it all apart again I might as well grind the hammer. Thinking about it some more it can't be an issue with the spring. In order for the disconnector not to catch the hammer it has to be rocked back so that it is not pushed flush against the trigger. Frustrated and tired. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow afternoon.

pull the trigger?...lol Did you make sure the trigger had full range of movement forward and backward? Sometimes you have to do a little grinding for it to clear the receiver. You also ground the hump off the front of the hammer right? lol...ya i tried the trigger. When I pull the bolt back it lowers the hammer down and the disconnetor is catcthing it. If I manually disengage the disconnector from the hammer and pull the trigger it works fine. Its like the disconnetor is too far foreward. Could the spring be too long? I have converted my Saiga but now when I work the action the hammer gets caught by the disconnector. Any Ideas what I may have done wrong or how to fix it?

Thanks for the welcome!! Hmm sounds like I'll just go with the black K VAR PG/BS and leave the orginal HG. I though the OD green would look sweet but thats more than I want to go through on the 1st try. Perhaps once I have more confidence I'll pick up a Saiga .223 and give the HGs a whirl. I will be getting a bullet guide set from dinzag. Any recomendations where to get the Tapco G-2? Are there different screw/nut combos for different PGs? Different length/sizes? Any recomendation where to order those from?

I've decided to finaly convert my Saiga but I have a some questions. Is there any reasons not to use a KVAR PG and BS? Will KVAR forward furniture fit without modification to the Saiga? I have read that AK handgaurd/heatshields will not fit the Saiga. Does KVAR ship PGs with the screw and nut? If not is there a brand or site that it would be better to order from? What FCG should I use? If there are any other tips or advice you would like to share I would be greatful as this will be my first attempt at any form of gunsmithing. Thanks.

My thought is why the heck hasn't an American company made mags for Saigas yet?

I recently purchased a Saiga 7.62x39 and am interested in a PG/922R conversion. Unfortunately I don't have the tools or the know how to do the conversion myself. What should I expect to pay for the conversion parts and labor? I am also considering getting a Saiga .223. Are the conversion costs comparable? Thanks in advance.
