Just use a hacksaw for the cut, and file square. Wrap tape around the barrel to mark the place you wish to cut, and to help keep you square while you saw. Pipe cutter will leave tracks from the rollers, and pinch where the cut is made (as mentioned above). My Saiga has 3 gas ports, and works well with an 18 inch barrel.
