    Hair Triggers

Keep the hair triggers next to the banana clips.
  2. I bought an MI rail with the US palm upper, and a Primary Arms red dot. I've never had the Ultimak setup. My entire setup cost about what the Ultimak lower rail costs, and that's including the Primary arms optic. I ran it hard at an action rifle match last weekend, and it did not let me down. The optic on the MI setup is not on the gas tube, and stays at nearly ambient temps. I get a lower 1/3rd ish co-witness. So far so good.
  3. I hope the irony of 'buy American' for a part for an imported gun is not lost on everyone. Seems if y'all were worried about American jobs, you'd be shooting an 870.
  4. Most awesome update. Keep us posted!
  5. Yeah, but you're not going to breach a door with an M203. Not standing next to it, anyway. That shotgun is for breaching, that's all. The M203 is for killing people and breaking things.
  6. The safety very simply blocks the back of the trigger when the safety is applied. In my experience, failure of the trigger to reset has been when one leg of the trigger spring comes off the back of the trigger. Since that doesn't seem to be the case for you, I would very closely examine the relationship of the safety and the trigger. If the pins are in right, that's probably where you will find your answer.
  7. I did go to the MD web site, and didn't see that info. I thought to myself, 'self, if I had a product like that that was about to come out, I would put the information where everyone could find it really easy, so they wouldn't call or email me to ask about it'. And, since it's already 'late april or early may', I think it's a pretty good question.
  8. How long is the barrel? Does it run? Have you shot it yet? Keep us updated!
  9. I think were I you, I'd have gone with an AR.
  10. Negative. The law says you must engrave the barrel, frame, or receiver. Most agree that it is not wise to engrave the barrel, or upper receiver, because if you put another upper on that weapon, you will have an un-marked SBR. Even with a 16+ inch barrel, the registered lower is still an NFA weapon, and should be marked accordingly. A SBR can be un-SBR'd, and removed from the registry. It's OK to make a pistol into a rifle, and back into a pistol again, without putting the weapon on the NFA registry. Of course, I could be full of shit. So look it up for yourself.
  11. The sporter Saiga 12 has the same rear trunnion as a standard stamped AK, and will accept any stock that will fit a stamped, euro pattern AK without modification. The problem is, you will need to install a pistol grip, and that requires some work. There are some goofy conversions that fit, that have a grip on the stock and allow the use of the trigger in the sporter location.
  12. You'd better let the Army know that they don't know what they're doing. Clips feed magazines, magazines feed weapons. The weapon is designed to be mounted to an M4, for use as a breaching weapon. There is also a stand-alone kit, so you can employ the weapon without having it mounted on an M4. So you have figured out that it's rate of fire coincides with it's designed purpose. Exactly. That's why is so small and light. Yes, a weapon that was too large and heavy for it's intended purpose. Yes, that stupid AR design that is dominating the western wo
  13. If only people that knew what they were talking about posted in this thread, it would be a lot shorter.
  14. I wish I could see what they were. Recommendation 1: Find the macro button. Use it. Make sure to leave the flash off, use bright lights. A desk lamp is usually good. Extra points if you can bounce some light off the ceiling. Method for taking pictures: When you are taking the picture, set up the shot, then push the shutter button half way down. The auto focus will then focus on the backround. Then, pull the camera away from the gun until the gun is actually in focus. Push the shutter button all the way down at this time. Method 2: Set up your shot like normal, get t
  15. SBS is $200. Only AOW is less, transfering at $5. For a non SOT to make an AOW is still $200. Nobody wants to pony up with gas port mods for short barrels, so your options seem to be wait a year, or don't do it.
  16. The US military did just get a new shotgun, but it's a straight pull single shot, not full auto. It's called the XM-26. Anybody heard the US actually bought that thing from any source other than the retard on futureweapons?
  17. Err, anyone? It seems like this is a regular topic here, why is there so little actual information? Obviously, I don't want to wait until 2009 to send it to Tromix. Yeah, there are other companies I could send it to; but I have a pretty decent shop and would like to do this myself. Nobody here has shortened a barrel successfully (and wants to talk about it)?
  18. If that gun will run with less than an inch of barrel in front of the gas block, the poster's gun should be capable of running, given the proper gas port configuration, correct?
  19. For the S12 with the ejecting dust cover, check the engagement of the top cover at the front.. With the top cover pulled to the rear as far as it can go, there should still be good engagement up front. If not, dust covers are cheap. Get an AK top cover, and trim the ejection port to match the S12. For the other ejecting top cover, try a new one. They're cheap. Trim to fit, if need be.
  20. Wow, thanks. I just posted a question about this very topic. For those of us that are kinda slow, do you have a picture? I can't quite wrap my brain around what you are describing.
  21. I've been gathering information on shortening barrels on Saiga 12's, but I would like to get some feed back if possible. I am going to SBS my S12 soon, but am not quite sure how to get there from here. I'm thinking I'd like to go about 14 inches, with the standard gas block position. I've read about large, single hole gas ports, and multilple small ports. What are the pros and cons? For this setup, what sizes/types have proven to be reliable? Is the standard gas valve OK, or is a new valve in order, too? If this setup is not recomended, could someone recomend a reliable setup?
