  1. hey guys what is the best type of 30 round mags? Bulgarian? Hungarian? Chinese? im planning to buy at least 5, have them shipped to my friend in nevada and let them keep them till i leave california. since it seems that it will get hard to find them later on. also this is 100% legal right? they will stay in NV, i wont try to bring them here and i wont even see them unless i go there.

I'm very partial to 30 Round East German mags. I have a dozen and would never part with them. They seem to be finished better (Cleaner welds and better machined feed lips) than some of the other countries who made them.

I think it would be better said that your friend in Nevada bought them and he lets you use them when and only when you are in Nevada.

  2. Hi I need ar stock for my saiga shotgun, I have folding stock original izhmash, but this is not good for me. Is this par from ACE usa compatible (after some modified)? Or where I can buy adapter for this??

Let me know if you are getting rid of the triangle folder... I need one for another project.

  3. My S-12 came with the factory BHO lever. Some people seem to have issues with them staying open but so far I've have not had that issue.

I am about to embark on an AMD 65 build and wanted to know if the same style lever would work with an AK bolt carrier?

    Thanks - sKott

  4. To make it easy on yourself look into:

    -Krebs retainer plate

-Tromix Fire control group from MAA,

-Tromix Trigger guard "kit". (There was a really nice trigger guard posted on here which is what I used but all of the details have been deleted from the forums and nobody has explained what's up. I hope he becomes a paid vendor as the parts are really nice!)

    Assembly trick:

Dental floss to pull down the BHO spring (I got this idea from CobraII's old thread). I used Glide, and once I pulled the spring all the way down I was able to wrap the floss around the trigger guard holding the spring down tight while I had both hands free to work on the assembly of the guts. I goofed with the spring using a paper clip and some fine tweezers for about an hour and a half. Once I wrapped dental floss around it everything went together in 15 minutes.

    +1 on the Dental Floss

  5. Hello,

I am looking to convert my stock IZ-109 19 barrel Saiga-12 into a configuration with a pistol grip and a folding stock, probably triangle although a normal side folding stock would also work great. Where can I get the parts to do this? I need to be 922r compliant so they need to be US made parts, right? If anybody can help. please let me know.

I can help you if you have any specific questions.

  6. I'm not sure what would be involved with removing the ACE stock but the Triangle folder installation would not be that bad.

You will have to modify the donor trunnion slightly so the bolt carrier does not run into it. Check out my conversion, it should be the same as what you want just swap out the poly side folder with the triangle folder. Be sure to save as much of the old donor receiver so you can use it for a template for drilling the holes.

  7. I was wanting to build an AK pistol but I never could settle on a "style". Most that I have seen either look unfinished or chopped up. I have seen some good builds but I do not have the tools to do it right and didn't want one that looked half ass either. I also wanted to vary my ammo choices with the addition of something that shoots 5.56 NATO. After looking around and doing a little reading I decided this would be my next purchase.

Kel-Tec PLR 16 - This photo shows one with all of the bells and whistles.

The guts of it work pretty much the same way an AK does in regards to the gas chamber, Bolt Carrier and Bolt.

I grabbed this shot off of the internet. (Thanks to whoever posted this beauty) I really like the Harris Bipod.

The Kel Tec has also got some good reviews.

  8. After a good aluminum oxide blast and a MEK bath The Saiga 12 was ready for a new coating. For this I chose the Black Flat Thermal Cure Norrell Moly Resin.

This stuff works great, easy to apply and really looks like a professional finish. Trust me, its not my skill with an airbrush - Ive never used one until now.

Last thing to complete is to Hard Chrome Plate the Bolt carrier, Hinge Pin and Folding stock lock.

  9. Got a few questions.

I picked up an S12 108 from Silver State Arms in NV for $520 shipped. (got the last one)

Ive fielded several questions w/ Dinzag on the FCG and have an order placed.

I plan on doing the conversion myself and have read just about every tutorial I can find, but there are still some things im not clear on.

Can the orig. Selector Stop as well as the trigger guard be chopped down and re-used ?

My plan is to bolt everything together until funds allow the purchase of a Bulgarian stop & Trigger guard, then I'll rivet it together. Unless of course the bolt method is completely acceptable.

Is there any issue (aside from looks) w/ using bolts to hold the triggerguard/stop in place?

also Kvar does not have bulgarian selector stops in stock. Is there any place that carries the stop & guard?

will any other make of stop & guard work just as well?

Global Trades has the bulgarian selector stops in stock.

  10. I think it's about time to finish up this project and move on to the next one.

To refinish I picked up 8oz of Norrell's Moly resin and a Airbrush from Harbor Freight.

This weekend I plan on blasting with 70 grit Aluminum Oxide, cleaning, coating and baking following the directions that came with the product.

This week I took everything apart and finished cleaning up the rear of the receiver where the import marks were.

    Did you remove the barrel?

No I will plug the barrel and the gas block before blasting and coating.

  12. The Saiga 12C will fire with the stock folded. Don't know if any 12k made it to the US. I could be wrong though, but I know the 12C will fire folded and unfolded.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I have my threads crossed... (wouldn't be the first time)

  13. Well, I've taken a lot of heat for it on this board, but personally I would never use JB weld/Devcon (they are the same BTW) on a weapon.

Just to be clear, I have nothing against a guy who does his own kitchen-table conversion on the cheap and cuts corners. Some guys here do, and more power to them. Do your gun the way you want. But from a professional standpoint I would call filling up pin-holes or engravings with JB weld substandard or amateurish work.

We weld all over receivers all the time without ill effects. By "cosmetic purposes" do you mean warping?

Sort of... I would not want take the chance of warping the receiver just to fill in the importers stamp. I subscribe to the leave well enough alone theory but I would like to remove the rest of the stamp.

    P1040258.jpg

I do not have that much to fill in. If I did not want to weld what would my other options be other than JB Weld. Could I silver solder over the letters and sand that down?

  14. That DevCon stuff looks expensive. Will a little JB Weld do the same thing?

Oh hell not again...don't you guys know anybody that welds?

Yes, I do have a coulpe of contacts that weld.

During my conversion I had the extra pin holes welded but I did not want to have that much heat applied to that large of an area on the receiver for cosmetic purposes.

I figured I could either leave it alone or fill in the stampings with another material.

I did not realize that this idea was frowned on or somehow considered sloppy work.
