  1. looking for a Tromix Shark Brake for the S-12. I see on their website they they aren't taking any more orders till 2009. Anyone know where I could get one?
  2. K I just dropped the hammer on an ACE folding stock kit with the internal block. This is gonna be a fun conversion (also my first)
  3. awesome thanks for the help guys! I'm probably gonna go with a folder, I like the look of the SOCOM stock they have.
  4. thanks for the reply! Is the tang something I could replace later on if I decided to go with a fixed stock or is this a one time shot?
  5. when you add the pistol grip you now have 15 parts, so there's 5 you need to change to US to be compliant Here's the route I'm going: AGP Mag - 3 parts G2 trigger - 2 or 3 parts , can't remember US made stock (haven't decided on one yet) - 1 part Tapco Galil handguard - 1 part Tapco SAW is US made but since I'm adding it it doesn't count (922r) Total = 7 or 8 parts US Made, making it less than 10 foreign parts. I remember seeing somewhere that adding a foreign choke does count as a part. Its stupid I know.
  6. saw this on Blackjack's site and thought it was interesting. http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/index.php?...products_id=394 anyone have any experience with these? I like the idea of the Ace folder kits but i'm apprehensive of cutting the gun up
  7. none, I just checked the site, all the S-12's are gone
  8. yay good to know. time to start ordering parts!
  9. Got here today (man Gilbert's ships fast!) Filled out my paperwork and OTD total was 499.00. I got it home and looked it over. Does it look the same as the others or did IZ change something? Took some pics of the bottom, is the plate normal or am I gonna have to do more work to convert it???? Here's some pics!!!
  10. Woot. Just checked my email. I got tracking info and everything. Showing up tomorrow!!!!!

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS026-65534-973.html do you guys think this would hold up to the S-12? I really like the look of it and I don't really want to go with a folder for my conversion
  13. omg finally I'm calling them tomorrow to make sure my order is being shipped out :-D CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
  14. I called them 4 or 5 weeks ago, gave them my CC info and my FFL faxed his thing, I hope they have one for me. They haven't charged me yet.
  15. https://www.gilbertsguns.com/Clips-Magazine...agazine+US+Made does anyone have one of these? I'm curious to know if they will function without a bullet guide.
  16. Awesome Thanks for all your help!
  17. Ok I finally got the mag to fit. Here's what I had to do: File above AND below the rear catch on the back of the mag Reshape the catch itself to look like the fatory catch (more square) File down the lugs on the front of the mag so they were flush with the follower File down the very top of the mag a wee bit to even out the two sides. I think I may have gotten a little carried away. It locks up great now, but theres a little wobble (nowhere near as bad as my WASR). What is kind of troubling is that the mag twists a little when locked in. Is this normal for the Bulgy m
  18. OH OK haha I was a little confused with the terminology. So to get that mag to work in the saiga, I have to grind material off of the top half of that mag catch lever on the rifle or shorten up the tab on the rear of the mag. Since it is an AK mag, I'm pretty sure it needs that bullet guide of Dinzag's. Its 12:37am, just making sure I'm reading clearly does that mag catch come out somehow or do I have to weasle the dremel in there? If that's all that needs doing then I'd rather just grind the mag catch.
  19. That is a .223 Bulgarian mag, not an Ak74 mag. You'll need to grind your rifles mag catch a wee little bit for it to seat properly. Conversely, if you only have one or two mags, you can polish the bottom of the magazines mag catch, but I really don't recommend that. If you adapt the rifles mag catch, you can use Weigers, Bulgies, AK74s w/follower adaptations, etc. Speaking of which: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=20586&hl= So are you saying that I should do what icarus did in this thread? Just open up the mag well with a dremel? I had to do that with my
  20. ok so AK-74 mags will work with a .223 follower? No mods other than that needed? I have a circle 10 magazine (its got a 10 in a circle on it), its plastic. It doesn't fit in the magwell, seems too long. What has to be done to this mag? EDIT its this one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=84484217 Apparently its a Bulgarian mag. How do I mod this to work?
  21. Ok so I've got all the 922r based covered and I want to use hi cap mags in my unconverted saiga .223 I would be buying one of Dinzag's bullet guide kits Which mags can I use without having to modify the mags? I cannot use the Galil mags as they are 35 rounds, which classify as a machine gun in Ohio
  22. ok more questions! what kind of a stock can I use? Will any AK stock fit? Tapco T6 collapsible? I'm in the dark about this one lol. Already decided I'm going with the Tapco SAW grip, had one on an AK and loved it. Does anyone make US made handguards? Haven't seen any for the S12. Finally onto the parts count. I'm ordering the 19" version with threaded external choke. Putting a pistol grip on it would raise the count to 15 parts right? so I need 5 US parts: FCG - 3 parts Buttstock - 1 part PG - doesn't count because I'm adding it Thats 4 parts, what else, oth
  23. Thanks for the quick reply. I just called Gilbert's and gave them my info, so all is good in the world until the bill comes
  24. So I'm a day or so away from pre-ordering my first S-12 from Gilbert's Guns and I was wondering about the conversion process. I saw the Steps, Tips, etc thread, and a couple other sites illustrating it, and I believe I grasp the concept but before I drop the hammer: Realistically, how easy/difficult is this conversion? I have all the tools, but how easy is it to screw up? I am somewhat mechanically inclined, but never fooled around with firearms before except for drilling and tapping a couple of scope mounts or threading a barrel. I noticed Tromix is not doing anymore conversion until
