[What breed is a good dog?]

Best dog I ever had was a black and white border collie. Very gentle, smart, territorial of what was ours. We didn't fence her in. She knew what as our property and would not leave it. She'd chase out any animal other than birds that came in the yard, even if they were bigger. I saw her chase a great dane out of the yard. She saw it and started ripping across the yard barking. The Dane saw her, did an abrupt turn and beat feet with my collie right behind him! Ginger (my collie. Don't ask why I named a black and white dog Ginger) ) came trotting back toward the house looking like "YAY! Look what I did!"Protective too. She's never harm any one of us. Our neighborhood started to go to shit, and when some bad neighbor's kids tried to start a fight, she was all over them. They learned to leave us alone when the dog was out. Great dog. That was ages ago, and I still think about her sometimes.
