  1. How exacting does the double trigger hook cut have to be? I freehanded mine with a carbide mill bit and the trusty dremel. Came out pretty good, but I think it's a smidgen longer maybe and a little narrower than stock. The trigger seems to fit fine. Anything to look for when I reassemble? Yes there's a couple boo-boos near the old rivet hole I need to smooth out! That's a piece of fuzz in the top of the bottom slot, not flashing.
  2. Yes, I ordered Norrell's. I have the blue 3M painters tape, is that good enough, or should I get the mylar stuff? I know even with the blue stuff if you leave it on for too long, it can become a bear to get off. I'd worry about it in the oven, maybe need to do a test piece! Where to get that mylar stuff? Is that special order or would hardware stores have it?
  3. Just wondering what most do when refinishing. Whole thing, barrel and all, or just the receiver? I'm getting semi-gloss moly resin. My barrel and gas tube seem to be finished well from Saiga. I'm thinking just to tape it off and paint the rear half.
  4. Anywhere else to get the stop? K-Var is out of stock!
  5. Come on anyone on the moly color? I need to order my stuff so the build can continue? I'm thinking it's between the Gloss and Semi-
  6. Why the other plate to the rear? To balance out the selector stop piece? Add more strength to the pistol grip area? Both? Is that a made piece or bought? Also, why the AK74 guard and not the AK47? Selector stop at K-Var looks different (or did you cut it down?), and is OOS!
  7. Thanks all, can't argue with Tony! Didn't even think of those springs. Now what's a good match for the S-12 in moly? Glossy, semi-, or black flat?
  8. Once I get my conversion done, I'd like to do the moly resin. How does everyone bake it on? Do you need to take off the barrel and tube, or OK to do the whole thing if it fits in the oven? I assume you need to leave the FCG out when you bake! Do you coat the barrel and tube also with moly, or leave stock? Do you coat misc parts like the BHO? One final Q - What do most people do with the fire selector switch? Just let it ride as in the stock version and scratch the heck out of the new finish, or is there a "nicer" way to setup the selector switch?
  9. OK, what is the selector stop, and why do I need it? Where does it go?
  10. Good place to get a trigger guard? Rivet/bolt on, not welded. KVAR wants $11 to ship an $11 part! Guess I can wait til the next gunshow.
  11. Thanks! Don't need it then.
  12. Can't remember if I asked this before. What is the Tromix receiver back plate part for? Been piecing together my conversion and ran across this, but not sure why/if I need it!
  13. Is that adapter plastic or steel/alum? Looks like milspec. This is the response I got from Mesa. Anyone know where to find a good milspec metal adapter? "It should work fine as long as the adapter accepts the standard Milspec tube. Chris Alamo Tactical 210-651-9800 877-ALAMTAC"
  14. Anyone try the Mesa Tactical recoil reducing tube yet? Will it fit into the CAA CBS collapsible stock for AK or would I need some other adapter to fit the receiver? Here are the links I found. http://store.alamotactical.com/enhyrerebu.html http://store.alamotactical.com/caa6pocbsstw.html Pics
  15. Not buckshot, but I got a case of 2.75" 1oz SuperX 12g slugs for $1.99 a 5-rd box! Sale is over now though, this was online at Vance's Gunshop.
  16. Thanks, cool pics. Bigger diam slot than I thought? Drill bits and sandpaper? Milling bits?
  17. Anyone have a pattern for venting or detailed photo of a Galil style foregrip that's been vented? Using the Tapco set for my conversion.
  18. Keep checking Classicarms. They had the best deals last month. Looks like only 20g right now though. http://www.classicarms.us/
  19. Too late now, sorry! I forgot about their lame website. You need to look on the left side for their sales flyer. It downloads as a PDF. They do one every month. You essentially have to call in your order. Usually have pretty good deals on lots of stuff, including guns. Looks like no shotgun ammo this month.
  20. I notice Tromix recommends not shooting the "super light" 1 oz loads, only the 1-1/8 oz. Is the recoil heavier or something with 1oz? Never shot them. If no problem, check out Vances Shooter Supplies online. Seems like a good deal for Win Super X 1oz slugs, 2.75" for $1.99 a box. Sale ends tomorrow though. I bought a case today, so hope I can run them through the S-12!
  21. Any good pads that will fit the Tapco T6 stock? I got the standard Tapco one, but it smells like rubberized a$$ and isn't even all that soft and cushy!
  22. Mine also won't lock the AGP mags easily like the factory mag. Factory I can just ease in and it snaps. The AGP I have to slap in or it won't engage. Mike, got the pin today, thanks! Sounds like it might not work though
  23. That's opposite of what I thought, tan furniture!
  24. Just shot about 20-rds through my new S-12. Factory & AGP 10-rd mags worked fine. This is my first 12g shotty and man does it kick! Got the marks to prove it. That factory stock is HARD! Tried some low recoil to save my shoulder, but wouldn't cycle on 1, didn't try 2 setting. Blasted the bullseye at 10-yds easy with slugs.
