Kalashnacox 0
With the AWB finally dead, I want to convert my Saiga .410 to pistol grip and side folding stock. I am also going to make/modify some mags for it. What is the maximum number of rounds I can legally put in one? Thanks! Edited October 16, 2004 by Kalashnacox
MAC_TEK 0
Before you mod some mags you may want to check out this site: http://www.rusmilitary.com/html/c-deact_magazines.htm They have 10 round mags for about 28 uk pounds. Approx $34 US Each Great company to deal with. I have purchased other items from them in the past. Hope this helps, MAC_TEK
Kalashnacox 0
I have an idea for a 20 plus rd. mag, and want to know if it would be legal or not.
MAC_TEK 0
One of the other guys could answer that better than i could. I would have to say you are really pushing it with a 10 rounder, so for a 20? I'd have to say More than likely no. At least the 10 round mag is a production mag. MAC_TEK 0
Wanted to add one thing. a ten rounder is pretty big a 20 would be huge and cumbersom. If you have not seen this post check it out. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=1556&hl= chris410 has a 10 rounder on his in the picture. I don't think you want to go any bigger. Kalashnacox 0
Yeah, I have seen those. I was thinking of a double stack with a converted top to fit the Saiga. I was playing with an M14 30 rd. mag and .410 shells fit pretty well. The trouble would be, they keep working themselves to the front due to the rims on the hulls. I think 20 would fit, but before I do anything, I want to be sure it's legal
drooling idiot 1
its legal , no more restrictions on magazine capacity at the federal level, check your state to be double sure . NJ and Calf. come to mind , maybe Maine as well as other states have their on limits.
MAC_TEK 0
Kalashnacox, Your double stack idea sound good. Let me know how you make out! MAC_TEK Edited October 16, 2004 by MAC_TEK
Kalashnacox 0
Will do. And thanks for the replies! I know Ohio has a 30 rd. limit. I've never heard of it being enforced, but you never know.
Aethelbert 1
I know Ohio has a 30 rd. limit. I've never heard of it being enforced, but you never know. I grew up in NE Ohio but that was some time back. The mag capacity limit then was 15 rounds. Technically, all those .22's that would take 17 .22 Longs in the tube mag were legally considered 'machineguns'. Our county sheriff (sp?) had formerly been the chief of police in University Heights -- he told me that the 15 round limit was very selectively enforced, mostly as a 'need-something-to-get-the-guy-on' sort of thing. But, as I said, that was quite some time ago. Glad to hear that Ohio seems to have become a bit more understanding. The double-stack mag idea does sound good. Please keep us posted. BattleRifleG3 16
I thought of developing a thick aluminum milled receiver that takes a stamped kit, and thought maybe the sides could either be flared wider or just open to accept really wide double stack mags or drums.
