raymond5106 0
Any suggestions on the type of metal and welding tecnique for installing a vertical bolt handle on a saiga 12. My son runs a mill so he's gonna make em for everbody in the family that has a saiga, then we're gonna have a little install party. We've got mig welders , tig welders, and stick. Tools are no problem. Also anybody ever seen a gas rod that was (1) loose and(2) too long. Maybe 3/16". (S-12). We've already taken the gas rod out of the bolt carrier and found out that the two little dimples on the very front end of the bolt carrier where the gas rod screws in is not a hole where a pin goes thru but just that, two little dimples. They screw gas rod to bolt carrier then put in big ass press and make two little dimples. Well, somebody got their screwing and dimpling messed up.I guess to much vodka the night before. So, any suggestions like shorten and weld. Tell me what you think.
BobAsh 582
Mild steel and TIG. They don't usually have a pin, they're threaded on and the dimples are the way they stake it on. I would screw it in and re-stake.
