  1. Hay guys; I'v got a question about s-12 gas piston. Whats the advantage of installing a US made piston over the Russian. My gun runs like a clock like it is, thanks to Tony, Mike D, cobra, Bob A, and I'm sure some other guys who post good stuff that my old brain won't bring up right. thanks Fred
  2. I'm not sure about all 1911's but i'd say most come outa tha box with 16lb springs.I run a 22lb in mine with a recoil buffer. 1911 that is, not the s-12. One day I'm gonna experiment with some different weight springs in the saiga. You can buy 1911 recoil springs that go up to 28lbs. Wolf springs probably has them.
  3. I'll take one too. email me and let me know where to send the money Fred
  4. Thanks Bob, I'll go with that. Fred
  5. Any suggestions on the type of metal and welding tecnique for installing a vertical bolt handle on a saiga 12. My son runs a mill so he's gonna make em for everbody in the family that has a saiga, then we're gonna have a little install party. We've got mig welders , tig welders, and stick. Tools are no problem. Also anybody ever seen a gas rod that was (1) loose and(2) too long. Maybe 3/16". (S-12). We've already taken the gas rod out of the bolt carrier and found out that the two little dimples on the very front end of the bolt carrier where the gas rod screws in is not a hole where a pin
  6. I'v been looking fo months with no luck.Everything is finished on mine except the release adn painting. Fred
  7. I'v always been told not to oil a gas piston. I think that a good cleaning inside the gas tube and the piston itself should do it. Also make sure after reassembly that the piston moves freely. point the barrel up and down and you should be able to hear it move inside the tube.
  8. Call Ray Vaughn at Moss Pawn Shop in Jonesboro (770) 968-3474. They usually have a few in stock I called today they have some in stock start at $459.00. Welcome to the fourm. What part of the Atlanta area are you in my friend? I stopped by and it was a no go. Doesn't look too good according to them either. Oh well.... I bought the last IZ-109 that Moss had about four weeks ago. Paid 589.00 +tax. Like yourself, I knew nothing about these shotguns until about three months ago when a guy at the Gainsville gun show was trying to sell a used one for 300 bucks. Still kickin myself. Oh well.
