vegasdom 0
I would like to get a 308. My question is do I have to covert the saiga to a pistol grip to use hi-cap mags? Do I need to change anything else to make it legal?
greatmoose 4
I would like to get a 308. My question is do I have to covert the saiga to a pistol grip to use hi-cap mags? Do I need to change anything else to make it legal? No. You dont have to convert your gun to take hi-caps. Some states may not let you posess hi cap mags. When you convert a saiga is when you have to have enough U.S. parts to be legal. That's not entirely true. In order to use hi-cap mags in the S308, you will need to play the 922r parts count game (no more than 10 foreign/imported parts on the rifle). As imported, the S308 has 14. Insert a US made hi-cap mag and you drop the total imported parts to 11 (mag is 3-US parts). You'll still need one more US part to be compliant. This is why most people go ahead and convert to P-grip. If you want to keep it stock, you can try replacing the gas piston or maybe the handguard.
appalacious 0
I remember at one point someone was offering a US-made trigger for the unconverted 308. it was supposed to be alot better than the stock trigger. That would probably be your best bet. I'm really starting to like my unconverted saiga more and more. Can you say "lower comb"? J
