rgerber 0
Greetings! I picked up a NIB SGL 20 and so far am very impressed with it. I don't have any plans to make any serious mods at this time, but after putting a few hundred rounds though it, I do think I could benefit from a good recoil pad on that stock butt. It looks like an odd size to me, very small. Has anyone tried something different that fits? Reverend

imarangemaster 315
If I remeber right, AK stocks take the smallest size like 22 rifle stocks (not that a 22 needs one!)
SimpleIsGood229 3
I don't mean to sound to like a jerk, but it sounds like a change in technique would be beneficial. Are you, by chance, mounting the stock directly on the joint of your shoulder? If so, this is the problem, and I suggest mounting the stock a bit more to inside (if that makes sense). avatarx 0
yea my Saiga AK has Tapco fixed stock which has a steel buttpad and it hurt a little when I first shot it because I was not mounting it correctly. Now, it doesn't hurt at all with just a t-shirt on. Edited March 29, 2009 by avatarx
imarangemaster 315
I can honestly say that when I suck the stock into the pocket of my shoulder nice and tight, I don't even feel recoil from the 7.62x39!

imarangemaster 315
Well, I don't know about non from a 7.62x54R MN! I had a bring back 1944 carbine and it kicked like a mule! I don't know about the semi auto PSL and SVD.
SimpleIsGood229 3
Well, okay, so not none, but I don't feel pain from a Mosin when I correctly mount it. Edited March 30, 2009 by SimpleIsGood229

Turns out you are right on the money! Like anything else that's new, it took some experimenting. For me, it's a sweet shooter and also my first AK. Thanks for the input!
