Rusty 0
I saw those drop in PG for sale on gunbroker and got an idea: What would it take (in terms of swapping out imported parts) to take a stock S20 and replace the current rear stock with a PG/stock combo, and keep the firearm 922 compliant? My goal would be to make a PG/Stock that could be swapped out relatively easily for the original rear stock, but still be legal and fully functional in both configurations. I've needed a project for a while, and the metalwork involved in making a PG/rear stock sounds like quite a bit of fun (Am I sick or what? ). I'm currently thinking that I'll bend and weld the rear stock and adapter and use a US made PG. What else would I need to stay legal (that doesn't require hacking up the current trigger group and reciever if at all possible) Edited February 22, 2005 by Rusty
pistonring8 1
Without replacing trigger parts you could only replace the buttstock, handguard (foregrip) and gas piston to count toward 922r. That is unless you have a US made magazine. The mag counts as three parts.
Rusty 0
Would I be right in assuming a standard AK gas piston isn't going to work? If so, where might I go about finding a US made gas piston for a S20?
BattleRifleG3 16
A fellow on gunco.net is making custom pistons at great prices.
Rusty 0
Could you be a bit more specific? I've been looking over their forums for a half hour and haven't found anything.
pistonring8 1
Do a search for username: Hotbarrel He is the one making them. They look very nice and everyone sings his praises.
Rusty 0
Thanks guys. I've sent Hotbarrel a pm, and for <$20 shipped, I can't see me not picking one up.
danny boy 0
How bout trigger group/ PG/ and butt stock? Isn't that the 5 needed?
pistonring8 1
The trigger group is 3 parts. The buttstock is 1 part and pistol grip doesent count. If there is not a PG on your inported rifle, by adding one, you are adding 1 inported part if you use an inported grip. By adding a US made grip, it would not count for or against you. Get it? Its kind of hard to explain. Your not adding parts, you are replacing parts with domestic ones. Just look at the list and count up all the original parts you have left over after the conversion.
