Drop in PG question

Recommended Posts

I saw those drop in PG for sale on gunbroker and got an idea: What would it take (in terms of swapping out imported parts) to take a stock S20 and replace the current rear stock with a PG/stock combo, and keep the firearm 922 compliant? My goal would be to make a PG/Stock that could be swapped out relatively easily for the original rear stock, but still be legal and fully functional in both configurations. I've needed a project for a while, and the metalwork involved in making a PG/rear stock sounds like quite a bit of fun (Am I sick or what? ).

I'm currently thinking that I'll bend and weld the rear stock and adapter and use a US made PG. What else would I need to stay legal (that doesn't require hacking up the current trigger group and reciever if at all possible)

The trigger group is 3 parts. The buttstock is 1 part and pistol grip doesent count. If there is not a PG on your inported rifle, by adding one, you are adding 1 inported part if you use an inported grip. By adding a US made grip, it would not count for or against you. Get it? Its kind of hard to explain. Your not adding parts, you are replacing parts with domestic ones. Just look at the list and count up all the original parts you have left over after the conversion.
