spicoli 12
I have a SGL-20 that accepts both the 30 round polymer magazines and steel AK mags without a problem. I purchased an older 2002 factory 10 round magazine (no caliber markings like my .223 magazine) and it is barely too wide to be inserted. Are the newer factory magazines different? If so, how can one tell the difference between old model and new (do the say the caliber on the side of the magazine?) A picture of a new manufactered one would be most kind. Thank you! nalioth 405
They're different if they're 5.45x39 magazines, yes. This is a 5.45x39 Bulgarian mag, made at Arsenal 10 This is a 5.56x45 Bulgarian mag, also made at Arsenal 10 If your magazine looks like the bottom one, there are manufacturing vagaries that can make them slightly different over different production runs. spicoli 12
The rifle is a SGL20 in 7.62x39. The magazine is a Factory Saiga 10 rounder made in Russia.

Different production runs can produce slightly different mag dimensions, due to differences in the dies, etc. This is one reason the Kalashnikov has loose tolerances. Normal and nothing to worry about. If your poly mag won't fit, you have two options: 1) lightly file the mag well 2) lightly sand the magazine. Out of these choices, my suggestion would be option 1. If it fits tightly, there aren't any issues that I see (it'll get looser over time)
