White7 0
on page 7 here http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/Step_7.htm and step 10 he uses "Binding posts" for the retention spring all other conversion how- to's i haven't seen this step so my question here is what are we using? nalioth 405
That "how-to" is over 11 years old, one man's opinion and should be used as a very general reference. There are several options today for retaining your pivot pins. Retainer wires (you can make one out of your original spring) Retainer plates Hitch pins and even e-clips (but they suck). thehopping1 105
The retaining plate seems to be the easy way. And then plug the holes like this. Or if you are using an Ace internal receiver block, drill and thread where the old FCG went and put some screws in. Binding posts are non necessary. White7 0
I think it just clicked,The retainer spring he is using is just to hold the hammer and trigger axles from backing out,,Correct? And the binding posts are just to fill the holes left from the pins you punch out,,,correct?

Using one of the retention plates or the pin that comes with the modified FCG eliminates the need for the binding posts. Most people just plug those holes.
